Wasn't George Kallis a South African cricketer?
Why are they naming Australian sporting venues after a South African?

The Fremantle Dockers are set to name part of their new $109 million training HQ at Cockburn Central after one of the port city's most famous business families.
The outdoor component of the state-of-the-art facility, which the Dockers will move into in 2018, will be called Victor George Kailis Oval.

The naming rights for the whole Dockers' training facility are yet to be announced
Victor's father, George who emigrated from the Greek island of Kastellorizo, set up seafood business G.P. Kailis & Sons in Fremantle in 1928.

The family runs the iconic Kailis Fish Market Café in the Fremantle Boat Harbour.
Victor has been a passionate Dockers supporter since the club joined the AFL in 1995 and was a committee member of the inaugural Fremantle Football Club foundation.
It's said he has rarely missed a Dockers' home game in 20 years, when not travelling.

A plaque was erected at the Dockers' boardroom at South Fremantle Oval after the family raised almost $1 million for the club's current training HQ.

Tex not playing in the game, won't be traveling with the team when they leave on Thursday, joining them on Monday

Adelaide pre-season news: All the latest from the Crows ahead of the 2023 season

Adelaide will fly out to Perth this week to take on Fremantle and West Coast in practice matches. But they’ll leave Taylor Walker behind, see why.

The Crows and Dockers face off on Friday evening, as does the Power and Eagles before the opponents are swapped around next week for practice games held under AFL rules and regulations.

Adelaide will be without its spearhead in Walker for the clash against the Dockers.

As part of their management of the former captain of the club, the Crows will allow Walker to stay in Adelaide over the weekend before joining the group on Monday.

“I’m not going for the first game, I’ll stay home and then head over on the Monday for the West Coast game,” he said on Triple M.

“As you get a little bit older you get looked after a bit more.”

The 32-year-old will be the only Crows senior player who will be left back in Adelaide over the weekend.

6 X 25 minute quarter and 1 20 minute one??? That's a lot of game time.

I hope we get one quarter of a "future team" no one over 24 on the ground or something like that.

Would love to see a midfield of Thilthorpe, Schoenberg, Berry and Taylor be the centre bounce crew a couple of times in one quarter

It's really hard for clubs to be able to find the space to build these huge facilities these days.
That's where Thebarton is good being so central.
It wont be long and Port will outgrow Alberton and they will have to move out to Dry Creek
wow what away to devalue Dry Creek,
