MATT897 CLAIMS THE SUNDOWN BOWL III TITLE… CONGRATS

Congrats to all the winners this season. Seeing AE first hand I appreciate how hard it can be each week, so awesome work by those that won.

For myself, it was a fun and frustrating rookie season. Thanks to JeffDunne Woodson balmainforever Sven and GG (apologies if I've missed someone) and for allowing me to be a part of it all.

I knew this was going to be a tough season going up against some seasoned AE veterans so I enlisted the help of some Superbowl experienced veterans to help me out, unfortunately it didn't pay off.

3KXO: Week 5. 2 bullets in the gun. Come on down Neil O'Donnell as we select with San Diego and Atlanta. Two misguided picks and out we go.

LCS: I shouldn't have asked Barrett Robbins to help me out in this one. We just didn't show up.

High Roller: Marv Levy helped me get close - Week 3 (6th), Week 7 (5th), Week 13 (2nd) - but it was never good enough in the end.

CR Rating: I think I cracked the top 10 in week 13 and was hoping to stay there, but Donovan McNabb kept throwing up everywhere and cost me a good showing in the end.

DZE: Lasted until the final 12. When I turned to my clutch kicker, Scott Norwood, who bundled us out one step before the final 6.

Don't like my attitude towards the bonus points thing fool you, I'm just having a laugh.

I really enjoyed this season and I think all the comps were very well run.

Thanks to Woodson , GG , JeffDunne , Moo and larkis for helping me get involved. Your support this season of AE really means a lot to me.

I think overall the rookie class was really high calibre and we can all hold our heads high.

Congrats to all the winners, you really deserved it as it wasn't an easy season to tip (except maybe this last round) :D

Congrats quin_stick

Too good.

Cheers mate, more lucky than good, had a crazy run!

Also congrats to Matt for his LCS win, and cheers to all involved, had great fun and can't wait to go round again!

Congrats to the winners! and a big cheers to Woodson, JD and Co. You all work hard to put on a great show and although I was mediocre again, I can't wait to go round all again next season!

Can't believe I forgot to tip this week. Christmas messes my time and schedule up real bad.

Now on to the playoffs! Go Hawks!

Congrats to all the Winners… Prizes will be arranged within the next couple of days .. will need some people's bank details so deposits can be arranged promptly. Should have them by mid-next week at the latest but most will be processed by this upcoming Friday. Expect a whirlwind of AE pr0n (graphics) to bombard this thread.. AE14 is up for tender.

AE13clubhouse.com will be updated within the next 24-48 hours.

Thanks to all the participants and organisers of ae. This is a super fun competition and I hope to be apart of it next season.
As a suggestion, can we have a new game next year. Call it GGrim Reaper. Basically its an elimination competition, and every player that finishes with less points than gg is out of the comp, until there is only 1 standing. It may incentivise (if that is a word) to stop tipping like a 65 year old woman.

just jokin gg, thanks for having me, it was super fun.

That's a good idea, the GGrim Reaper. Basically, it's Drop Zone Elimination, but where "par" is set as GG's score for the week.

Just be careful what you wish for, one of these years I'll do a crowman_23

Congrats to the winners.

Big TYVM to the organizers/coordinators/website gurus. Really enjoyed the comp even though I'm sure I'm about 500 points down due to it "not working properly*"

*actually BS, my tipping blew dog!

Could have gone either way I'm sure. I threw my chances in CR away last week to try to win ND & LCS

I think you deserve it just based on forum contribution. You were one of the few that were always there to chat while the games were going on.

Much like Peyton going for the stat records this week...

Except he connected and you...

:p

Damn missed top 10 by a whisker. Not a bad recovery when I was 58th ofter 4 or 5 weeks of the comp.

Congrats to crowman_23 on the overall tipping title and to all the other winners of the various comps.

Well Done.

And of course once again not enough can be said of the efforts by those that have setup and run this comp.

It is easily the best any of us will ever enter and adds so much enjoyment to the Monday morning fun of the NFL.

Thank you for your efforts and I look forward to the new season later in the year.

Four early game differentials which certainly spiced up the SB match up with the RAVENS loss to the Bengals didn't seem to have as much of an impact for JeffDunne as Quin Stick surprisingly took the Bengals with a 9CR  but it was the respective victories of the Titans & Vikings which allowed JeffDunne to get the early jump by 8 points.
BaffledRavensFans_zpsf42a9dea.jpg

THE only differential in the late games was quite significant for Quin Stick who desperately needed the Packers to WIN to stay in the contest as this was a crucial 10 point turnaround game. And what a way to go with a game that would decide the NFC North Division title. Aaron Rodgers making a return after being on the sidelines for almost two months, rallying the Packers back for a third time in the game when they needed it most and more importantly in the clutch with the Packers on the brink of instant elimination, facing a 4th & 8, inside the last minute.. trailing by a point, outside FG range and on the road against the Bears who were playing alot better than in recent weeks.
It was also the timely return of WR Randall Cobb also, resuming after being sidelined with a broken leg, found space to break loose down field when Rodgers suddenly unleashed a long bomb from outside the pocket to find the wide open Cobb who waltzed in for the go-ahead touchdown play to put the Packers back in the lead 33-28 with a two point conversion to come.. but that failed, meaning the Bears needing a TD with 38 seconds remaining. And it looked good for a brief moment as the Bears special teams got to the ball to their own 40 meaning another 60 yards was a possibility. Cutler got an immediate first down to move the ball into Packers territory on the next play. Tense times for all concerned, Bears fans, Packer fans, JD & Quin Stick included. A deep pass to WR Jeffrey was incomplete, next play Cutler couldn't connect with Brandon Marshall in a dumb short pass option o_O which meant a hail mary was imminent with bugger all time remaining… it was da Bears season on the line and Cutler got his chance to sling it but it fell short of the endzone with Packers CB from Miami, Sam Shields, snaffling the interception and giving quin_stick hope for another day. JeffDunne would not be impressed.

Bears WR's dropping deep passes in previous drives that resulted in a punt and da Bears D unable to stuff the Packers on two 4th & 1 situations on the Packers final drive prior to the 4th & 8 bombastic play that lit up the Championship fuse.

So it now comes down to SNF.. JeffDunne needing the Dallas Cowboys to prevail and sweep the division without starting QB, Tony Romo, who hurt his back last week and went in for surgery making the Cowboys mission for a Division title claim even more tougher especially with struggling D missing starting LB, Sean Lee against a potent Eagles offense which had the leading league rusher, LeSean McCoy, in the backfield along with a second year lanky QB, Nick Foles, playing at an extremely high level for much of the season. The Cowboys back up QB, is former Bears QB Kyle Orton. The Cowboys, however came to play and kept it close somehow with some big plays that made the game quite intriguing and it wasn't until the last quarter when the momentum was looking to swing with the Cowboys as a 4th & 1 play that was foiled in Eagles territory to the agitation of many Cowboy fans as the Cowboys were just a point behind. 11 consecutive No Huddle plays on the proceeding Eagles drive resulting in a Bryce Brown touchdown to stretch the Eagles lead back out to 24-16 but the Cowboys responded in such a way that needed to overcome a 4th and 9 situation that resulted in an incredible Orton to Dez Bryant pass play down the middle that broke into the endzone from the Eagles 32 to suddenly find new life and put the game back on the razor's edge with the Cowboys needing a two point conversion to tie it up but a crucial knock down from ex-Raven DB Cary Williams denied Orton's urgent pass to Dez Bryant … it's worth noting that TE Jason Witten had wheeled right from post to be WIDE OPEN on the play as Orton only had eyes for Bryant. The Cowboys D forced the Eagles D to punt meaning another last shot for JeffDunne to try hold out Quin Stick, who had his 16CR planted on the Eagles.

A rather 'cute' short pass between the hash marks trying to find WR Miles Austin was the KILLER for the Cowboys as Eagles second year CB, Brandon Boykin, read Orton's eyes and jumped in the space to INTERCEPT JEFFDUNNE and the Cowboys  to not only clinch victory and the Division title for the Eagles but hand QUIN STICK the 16CR needed to overtake JeffDunne for another come from behind victory by a small margin to land himself into AE immortalty with the coverted NEXT DUEL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. :rainbow:

Just like to thank everyone who helped run AE, again this comp outdid itself again, it's amazing fun to have on a Monday morning, working what your tips are best for AE and then having to barrick for some team you never would, even had a situation where if my Jets win MNF then I lose AE. Lots of strategy to be had.

Thanks for the congrats as well, I got lucky this year. :thumbsu:
