Sydney landed Tippett and Franklin out of contract for nothing because of their culture. That's what attracts star players.

If we keep this group together and have some success over the next year the club starts to look pretty appealing. You talk about going hard like the other clubs. Buddy wouldn't be at Sydney if they had to trade one of their best players for him.
Absolutely - I have said somewhere else that we cannot trade our heart and soul - there is definitely some confusion around why players move to certain clubs, and what clubs would have to do to get a player like Cameron.

You do have to sacrifice some players and picks along the way but the idea that this would include any of our core group is flabbergasting ... it just needs to be managed well so that we improve as a club and a list.

I agree with that, I believe that our best avenue to securing Cameron would be to convince him to play out his contract at GWS with a guaranteed offer once his deal expires. Then he nominate Adelaide as his choice club. It's then between us and GWS to get a deal done.

Obviously our offer is going to be decent. That's where we can talk Buddy deals. We also now have the luxury of saying you will be working besides Sloane, Danger and Tex.

All Australian selection is not a consistent measurable. It is a subjective response to the season from a very small cross section of viewers.

the very small number of viewers are more expert than you, more informed than you, and with access to more advanced information than you.

a dissenting view needs more credibility than just saying "oh its subjective"

No idea if this will display well - but a Cameron and Reiwoldt comparison, in their second seasons.

2013 Season 2003
21 Games 22
8.1 Kicks 11.0
2.6 Handballs 5.0
10.7 Disposals 16.0
5.0 Marks 7.7
3.0 Goals 1.4
1.3 Behinds 0.8
1.3 Tackles 1.3
0.1 Hitouts 3.0
0.8 Frees For 0.7
1.0 Frees Ag. 0.4

Exactly.

As anyone can see Cameron played closer to goal and had more scoreboard impact. Nick R clearly played further up the ground.

Nothing further.

And Cameron and Jack Reiwoldt.

2013 Season 2008
21 Games 18
8.1 Kicks 7.9
2.6 Handballs 2.8
10.7 Disposals 10.8
5.0 Marks 4.8
3.0 Goals 1.0
1.3 Behinds 0.4
1.3 Tackles 2.1
0.1 Hitouts 0.3
0.8 Frees For 0.4
1.0 Frees Ag. 0.4

Agreed. Not even close

WE ARE NOT GETTING JEREMY CAMERON!! End of discussion.

Someone lacks faith ;)

Anything could happen for the right offer, it just depends if we are willing to part with what would be considered as the right offer.

What do you think would be the "right offer"?

For Cameron, either it's a straight swap for Dangerfield/Sloane/Tex

Reason behind this is that these three can build GWS into being a stable club, all have that star power and are ridiculously marketable... plus of course being some of the best players in the league helps.

Or alternatively, it's our first rounder + Douglas which is what is most likely the required deal.

GWS need experienced bodies and our first rounder is always going to be fodder in this deal, it could happen, but this season might of harmed a deal like that. I'd also say, that due to GWS unique position where they have 3 real power forwards, this could also happen at what seems to be slight unders.

If we were to land him it would be the 2nd option. No way in hell are we trading any of Danger/Sloane/Tex. Talking about ruining the culture of the club.

The whole player a, b, or c is the "heart and soul of the club " thing is touching, but at the end of the day they only occupy that mythical position until the end of their contract and commit to their next.

It sends a great message. You think the players don't want to win? You think they don't want the club to do everything possible to improve?

You're crazy
By trading one of our leaders entering their prime in the next few years? At their best they are a few of the best players in the comp in their respective positions.
