97%/3% 85%/41% and an emerging cultural shift brought about by free agency that makes players comfortable in naming their destination. That and we're poor and underperforming.

I'll take off now, not really keen on a debate. If you guys want to say it is purely cultural, it's your board.

Actually wasnt intended to debate if your team had a bad culture at all. Obviously its an issue for the Lions, for some reason. It would also ring true that its something your club would want to identify and fix. It maybe the way the young kids are handled when they first get up there, maybe its the dynamics of the current group that makes it hard for them to feel part of the group, I dont know. Maybe its just all happened at once and made it look worse than it is. Apparently Redden is happy up there, so cant be all bad. And I take no joy out of Brisbane loosing its first round draft picks. We have lost a few of our up and comers like Gunston, Davis, Tippett and know how it sucks. Short of developing QLD kids more and helping them get to the Lions im not sure what can be done. Oh dont draft Vic Metro kids, they are a bigger flight risk than others.

<50%

And Weller will be more than reasonable. Will be a gun. Marketable as **** too.
10/19 have left. That's close enough to 50% - I'd still prefer those odds at a franchise KPF than a reasonable mid. Not sure how Weller is marketable, solid player, nice kick but doesn't have x-factor or anything?

Put it this way - Paine, Close, Freeman, Lisle or Hammelmann aren't going to be franchise KPFs. Hammelmann might be a good #2 guy if the cards fall right. They won't succeed off the back of Weller. Another good midfielder in the mix isn't going to change their fortunes. An elite KPF might just do that.

It's a risk, but it's worth it.

It really is ridiculous that Brisbane don't get the same retention allowances as the other rugby state sides. If anyone has a case for one it is them. To me their CEO needs to come out and be a lot louder about it in the press. I had no idea they had lost >50% first round draftees until that article last week, but even that wasn't club driven.

I'll say it though, if they don't draft Lachie Weller they're not serious about adressing the problem.
If Brisbane had have beaten any other club than Collingwood in the 2002 and 2003 GF's they would still have the allowance. Thanks "18 games in Melbourne/Fathers-sons" Eddie.

You kidding? Classy as **** and looks like a movie star. Would be front and centre of marketing campaigns at any club in the league. He is someone that could bring Queenslanders to the footy for 10+ years.

Brisbane need to start thinking about things like that, rather than getting another generic forward from down south who is >50% likely to go home after 2 years. Even Browny, yeah he's famous down here but most Queenslanders have no clue who he is. They are a parochial bunch. They need something that says Queensland to build something around and classy Queensland players come around never. It was a huge huge error of them not to move heaven and earth to get Tippett.

Also, you're assuming Brisbane get pick 2. I like their run home more than GWS, though GWS may take Durdin since they already have a ridiculous stall of forwards. Will be interesting to see.

Another reason to go after Weller is that Brisbane should also start planning to restock their midfield with class for when Aish comes home ;)

Kennedy I think is probably closer to going than any, though. Constantly smashes down the door in the VFL only to be ignored and when he eventually gets games he gets a qtr as sub and is then ****** back off to the VFL. Knocked down the door in the pre-season then only got one game - as sub. I don't think Bucks likes him and eventually he might just get fed up. That said I have heard that he likes it there.

Sounds rather familiar.

Anyone followed Trent Dumont's progress? Was very keen on him last year after seeing him dominate the SANFL grand final.
Yeah I have watched a lot of North Ballarat this season. He has played very very well. Smooth user of the ball and accumulates well as well. Fairly sure last game I saw him play he had 37 touches at 80~% efficiency. Just dominated the opposition. He defiantly seems to be a step above the VFL players.

As was mentioned previous he is very close to debuting for North, in fact I am surprised they haven't played him yet, his VFL form is great.

Lyons for Kennedy?
Sounds like a good, realistic trade. Problem is, whenever I'm happy with a trade it usually means the opposition fans will come and say they're getting ripped off. I think a fair trade is one where both parties think they're getting ripped off.

Edit: Although, since when did we care what the opposition think? :D

No chance of getting him if that muppet has any influence on the decision.

That'd be the muppett who turned Gunston, Armstrong and Davis leaving into Lynch, Crouch, LJ, and JJ...and if Trigg hadn't vetoed it, Tippett into 2 draft picks and a shameful incident in our clubs history swept under the carpet

That muppett?

Edit he got Brown as well in those trades

It is Collingwood, somehow it will be a three way trade that defies FA rules

Lyon to Melbourne
Frawley to Pies
Kennedy to Crows

Actually, seeing it is Collingwood, why don't we get Johnston back and get him doing the second ruck role, the Pies love them a spud who can second ruck, bloody love them Q-Tip, Jessie White, lets swap him for Kennedy

I doubt this would ever happen but would we ever consider giving up our pick, say pick 9 for 2 picks in the top 20 (eg. 2 picks between 12&20 and a shuffle of other picks or players between teams)??

Could the grab someone like lamb and petracca (based on knightmares draft).

From my reading these kids could play half forward/midfield/wing and they know how to kick a goal.

Oh dear, that is about the single most stupid post I've ever seen on this board!!

He is one of the few who can hold his head high in our club.

Petracca will go top 5-6, if he's there at our pick it's a miracle. Really don't think Lamb is what we need really. He's not all that different to Tom T. Lynch in that he prefers the high half forward role except he isn't as proficient forward. He's kind of a scrappy looking footballer - if he makes it he'll be entertaining but there's serious bust potential there IMO. We should be targeting someone like a Weller if we want a midfielder or perhaps Marchbank as I reckon our KPD stocks are a little thin, post-truck I'm not sure if we want to be relying on Hartigan as the #2 guy and Thompson/Shaw/Otten the #3 guy.

Don't know how many of you guys watched the Pies game last night but wow was BenKen impressive in the quarter and a half he played. Should hopefully play in the seniors for the rest of the year if he keeps up that performance. Hopefully that is enough to be able to re-sign him because I'd hate to see him go back home and play for the Crows. Partly because he'll be a really good player but also because we wouldn't get good compensation from you blokes for him (I'd probably want your first rounder for Kennedy and our 2nd rounder, wouldn't happen though). Anyway I guess we'll wait and see what happens for the rest of the year. Congrats on the victory yesterday :)
