Maybe wright and Lyons for Mitchell
Don't think Wright is going anywhere - they tried to get him up to Brisbane last year and his management came out publicly stating he was not up for trade.

In any event his form is starting to head north back to where it was 2012

I know we won't finish low enough to get this kid but how balanced a footballer is Angus Brayshaw. Kicks both feet very aware of players around him, good in close and looks to have some speed. With Thomo near the end this kid would really be the play maker we need.
Not likely to be there when our pick but stranger things have happened.

I don't mind Rowan either, but he has a 3 year contract and is similar to Thomas the tank.

Correct he is signed but that doesn't exclude him from being traded. It just means we have to satisfy Sydney more in the trade. I think we would have a better chance of getting Rohan than Mitchelle.

We also probably need a Rohan outside type more than Mitchell.

Keep forgetting Wright is only that young. You need some of those mid aged (footballing terms !!!) players especially given that our 30+ guys are going to be few and far between next season. Only trade if we are getting overs IMO.

I wasn't sure about Davis but I've decided I wouldn't want him back. I wasn't a fan of him walking out on the club but deep, deep down I almost don't blame him. It would be inexcusable though if he were to now walk out on GWS after they paid him overs and made him captain. I don't want some one like that at the club, and given his history he is likely to walk out the door when FA comes knocking.

Now that Gibbs is not an option, I really think Ben Kennedy should be our main target this trade period. Un-contracted, elite junior, not best 22 at current club, was keen to stay in SA and presumably just as keen to return.

Does he meet a need? Kind of.

Due to his height it seemed most recruiters had him penciled in as a small forward only. And with the acquisition of Betts and Cameron, this is no longer a pressing need for us. HOWEVER, if we believe that one of Kennedy or Cameron are able to develop into a genuine mid/fwd then it's a no brainer. IMO both players appear to have this capacity and could add some serious outside class and run to our side.

I think a pick in the 18 - 30 range should get it done, especially if he nominates us. Perhaps a Gunston like trade, where we downgrade our later picks as well. Ideally it would cost our second round pick (approx 29), plus downgrade our third and fourth for their fourth and fifth round picks. I know Collingwood fans would think this is way unders though.

As much as I am a fan of Lyons, if we managed to get in BK then we really need to trade him out, for both parties benefits. We still have Grigg in the seconds who will hopefully develop too.

Go get him Nobes!

Jarryd Lyons could be a need for them. They have some outside runners, Lyons could fill an impending Luke Ball exit.
Lyons and a 2nd for Benny and a 3rd

Ben Kennedy would be a great get, but don't forget the Pies are ruthless when it come to trading.

Ruthless or not, Pies will end up playing ball if a player nominates us, it just might cost us a touch more.

I wouldn't mind Kennedy, seems like a decent inside/out midfielder.

Perfect week for Lyons to play in the middle.

1) GWS are a great clearance side so, even though we were very good in there this week, we should bolster this area.
2) I don't want to loose Lyons at the end of the year but i could understand one of our inside mids leaving, and it won't be the Crouch brothers. Let him play against GWS, hopefully get 25+ possessions and boost his trade value!

Don't forget the Pies won't have a leg to stand on if Kennedy refuses to sign a contract.

If they refuse to trade, he'd end up in the PSD, and no doubt make it clear that he's only interested in coming to SA, and we'd have a pick before Port.

Our second rounder plus a fringe player like Lyons or Johnston should get it done without any unnecessary drama IF Kennedy is keen to leave Collingwood.

Unless I see or hear something more concrete that suggests he actually wants to return to SA this is all speculation of course. He might love it there and re-sign in the coming weeks for all we know.

Good points there.

The longer he goes without re-signing, the more I like our chances. I would love to see us get ruthless and use the PSD.

I'm also surprised nobody has taken note that Troy Menzel hasn't signed with Carlton yet and imo brings much more to the table then kennedy.

Now, for a proper response to your post. :P

I think the fascination around Kennedy comes from the 2012 draft. Many around here thought he would still be available at our pick, before we had our draft picks stripped. I think people had it in their heads that he was going to be a Crow. As it turns out, he went at Pick #19, which was one below the one we would have had (Pick #20).

But you're right, people have forgotten about Menzel. Both have a lot of potential, and I would be happy to get one or both.

I think it goes even further back than that. Kennedy was widely expected, on the Adelaide Board, to be the player we would select in the GWS mini-draft. Adelaide chose Brad Crouch instead.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about that. I think we nailed that decision IMO. I don't think anyone has any questions about selecting Brad Crouch.

I hope that hasn't put him off us.

Very doubtful he would go into the psd. How often does that happen?

2nd round pick with Johnston would be laughed at by the pies.

Pies are ruthless traders & they would ask for a decent player.
