Would brisbanes 1st and 2nd picks get the job done? (4 and around 23)

Not sure they need a 3rd party as I think 2 top 10 picks is overs.

If it was needed so they can send 4 and 9 to coolingwood, reckon they would be pushing for the pies 2nd rounder in return also.

If they can get Ryder, could also see 4 and leuenberger as a great option for the pies

I still think the Beams move to the Lions is going to benefit us somehow, with us prizing Aish from the Lions.

I think with Brisbane being in the hunt for both Beams and Ryder that Aish would very much be an option for us for pick 9. Honestly this might be the best opportunity outside of free agency that the club has to get him.

This Beams move is purely on compassionate grounds. His father is dying and according the Slobbo on 360 one of his last wishes is to see his 2 boys play together for the Lions. He is a great player and Collingwood dont want to lose him on the cheap but if they stood in the way of this it could cause a huge uproar within Beams and his family which could then spill over to other team members. We let Griffo walk for similar reasons.

They may have to get a 3rd party like us into the deal to provide steak knives but a deal that sees Beams to Brisbane will get done, or I suspect he we walk regardless.

Is Aish actually going to be that good? Serious question as I only saw him twice and didn't see any real standout features to his game.

Well it's a gamble to a degree, but so is the draft. At least we know that Aish can more than hold his head above water at AFL level averaging 19 possessions from 21 games.

He is worth the Lions first round pick + extra I would have thought.

Absolutely he is and in normal circumstances thats what they would get, but this isnt normal and standing in the way of a dying fathers wish is a very stupid thing to do.
I read on the Brisbane board he is in remission. I don't think you stand in the way but you MUST get value for your best players. Equally Brisbane should not be seen to be taking advantage of the situation either.

Wasn't Josh Caddy's father very ill the year before he left Gold Coast and they refused to trade him?

I think so, didnt work too well for GC given his performances that year were that of a guy who didnt want to be there.

yeah, if all else is equal and you just have to pick one, JC in a landslide
But all else isn't equal. Thompson will almost certainly retire at the end of 2015. The situation with Dangerfield remains uncertain. That potentially leaves us with Sloane & Brad Crouch as our only A-grade midfielders. Aish is an absolute must-get player.

Compare that with the comparative riches in our forward line - Tex & Betts are both 50+ goal-per-year forwards and JJ is a 40+ goal per year forward. Our forward line was the 3rd highest scoring unit in the entire competition, less than a goal behind Port's 2nd ranked outfit. Only Hawthorn were better - and they were in a league of their own. JC would definitely improve our forward line, but the improvement would only be marginal.

Aish would significantly improve our midfield. JC would only marginally improve our forward line. JC would also cost considerably more, both in terms of salary cap and trade commodities. For my money it's Aish we should be chasing as our #1 priority.

Aish came 4th in this years rising star... It's a good achievement but I would take JC any day of the week. If 60+ goals and JJ on a third defender is only a significant improvement then their is nothing more I can say to you.

let me get this straight

the relationship between Danger and Sando broke down, Danger played a role in Sando dismissal and now Danger will be traded to Collingwood where Sando will likely end up
No, you've got Collingwood supporters wanting to chase Dangerfield if they lose Beams, there's nothing wrong with them wanting Dangerfield to replace Beams.

As for the Dangerfield/Sando potential relationship breakdown, you've got some posters that say what you have and others saying he's unhappy with how the club did it/gave Sando the boot and wants to leave because of that (not that I believe that). So if he did leave, then maybe he did respect Sando more than some suggest?

And as for the final part, nothing is set in stone where Sando will end up yet, it's been reported Collingwood have to cut down on their spendings so they don't exactly have room for him at the moment.

If you look at the two players in complete isolation then you're right - JC is clearly the better of the two. No argument there.

However, we aren't looking at it in complete isolation. We're looking at it in the context of what they bring/add to our existing playing list. The reality is that Aish adds far more to our list than JC does - and he would cost a lot less in trade & salary cap terms.

You also can't look at JC kicking 60+ goals in isolation either. If he's kicking 60+ goals, then JPod is out of the team completely (I have no problem with that), so you need to discount the 26 goals he scored this year. JJ might be getting the 3rd defender (instead of the 2nd), but both JJ & Tex will have far fewer F50 entries directed their way, so JJ becomes a 20-30 goal player and Tex a 40-50 goal per year player. The end result is just a redistribution of the goal scoring in favour of JC, but the overall team score probably only increases by 5-10 goals over the entire season. Given the price that we'd have to pay (both salary cap & trade), is it worth it if the team's overall firepower only increases marginally?

Would we perhaps be looking at JC for CHB? Perhaps in a role like Harry Taylor where we throw him forward as needed?

You want to throw $800k and the equivalent of 2x 1st round selections away, turning the competition's best young KPP forward into a CHB? Talk about a massive waste of talent & resources.
