Cheney will NOT replace Hartigan. Hartigan is 194 cm, Cheney is 187cm. One is a third tall, the other is a KPD. Thompson and Shaw are 194 and 193 as well. Stop putting Cheney up against them. He is NOT a KPD in the sense that you are pushing. He is a 3rd tall defender who can play on the smaller mid-size forwards ala Henderson and Smith.

Smith would not be replacing Bob or Lyons or Grigg. He would replace Martin et al who play forward and wing. He could even push out Mackay which would please quite a number of supporters around here.

So you know what is going to happen in 2015, please tell us all. Did you know that Smith was going to end up AA? Did you know that Jaensch was going to have a consistent season? Did you know that JJ was going to kick 40+ goals? If anyone said those things at the start of this year most of us would have laughed, some might have thought it could be possible (JJ), the Jaensch one would have been ridiculed and Smith we would have said highly unlikely but it would be nice.

I think a problem we will have is that both Cameron and Aish will have large years next year...not helping our cause.

Yes, I hope whomever we get as our list manager next year is very good a juggling the salary cap.

If the rumours are true that we're into Cameron and Davis, plus can manage to convince Aish over, along with signing Danger, Sloane and Walker, we'll need to be extremely ruthless with our salary cap.

We'll already be losing Reilly and Thompson from the cap, plus the cap will grow by ~$500k, however we'll need to be willing to offload some mid-range players for draft picks to gain extra salary.

The good thing is all three are out of contract, the difficulty is finding the trading currency, which may be a little easier if we're willing to sacrifice a Douglas/Kerridge/Lynch type, to gain picks and salary cap at the same time.

I'd suggest that Lyons and M Crouch will be starting 22 in Round 1.

One of them definitely should be, but hopefully not both. Can't have too many slow players in the team at the same time. Then again, I suppose we could always hope that one or two of the other slow players might miss out (Scott Thompson, Wright, Grigg).

Bellchambers is average at best, gets injured a fair bit and has an ASADA suspension looming. Jacobs is a class above in talent, has played nearly every game since we got him 4 years ago, and doesn't have an ASADA suspension looming. The mathematics are pretty simple here.

Daniher is just a key forward tall enough to chop out in the ruck, he's not part of the equation.

I must say that I am pretty disgusted.

I have it on good authority that we wanted Jeremy Cameron, Josh Kennedy, Jarryd Roughead, Robbie Gray, Lance Franklin, Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury, Dyson Heppell, Luke Parker and Nathan Fyfe to play for the Crows and all we got were 2 players, who must be complete spuds because 3/4 of the posters here either don't know them or haven't seen them play.

David Noble's inability to attract at least 3 of these players after we offered up Luke Thompson and Jarryd Lyons, as well as our much coveted pick 10, surely means that we must sack him. I hear that Bone might be after a new job so maybe we can recruit him to replace Nobes. He seems to be pretty level headed and an astute observer of footy.

To Cheney. He isn't very good. He just isn't. The fact that Hawthorn never game him more than 10 games in a season shows that. He has also NEVER played in a final for the Hawks. Pretty damning considering how many finals they played. Just not sure how people think he can come in and be an automatic best 22 player for us.

I was interested to read on the News site that "...informed judges believe they offered pick 12 for David Armitage, and sniffed around Adelaide’s Scott Thompson..." - if that is the case I'd be disappointed if we didn't strongly consider such an approach. If we could have got ourselves an early to mid 2nd round pick for Thommo I think that would have been very good business and freed up space for Grigg, Lyons, M. Crouch, et al to get a run whilst strengthening our hand in the draft. Wonder if there's truth to the rumour as I had not seen it anywhere else.

Can't argue with that, but the question is how much more.

I believe Nobes when he says he has calculated what each club will do with their first rounder/s and this down-grade won't cost us. (As others have said, it sounds like we are after Duggan, a quick outside left-footer, who the phantom drafts put around 10-17).

But Bellchanbers is not as good as Jacobs, which makes the competition easier, plus he gets injured more often and has the ASADA thing coming. It was always a simple equation.
