Hope the Crows don’t shit the bed…
This.

Crows should have been playing finals footy 2 years ago if not for some dodgy results, they've matured, been through their slump year and have bounced back like no team before.
They're primed for success.

Pies are out of steam, you could see it coming months ago, who have they beaten in that time?
Ground will be heavy with rain forecast for the whole weak.
Crows beat them on a wet deck last time, so it holds no fears.
They'll come hard early, Crows will need to absorb it, but once they get their game going they'll leave the Pies in their wake.

Just dont shit the bed Crows.

No chance Crows would tank a final.
The supposed notion that we would even consider tanking a final has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

Will be a good game, not sure if my heart is up for it :tearsofjoy:
If the stats are anything like last time with the discrepancy in the amount of inside 50s going Collingwoods way, pies will win by 4 or 5 goals. Lightning isnt striking twice for the crows there.

Correct. But 70 inside 50’s - even though about 30 of them were handballs across and back again - isn’t happening twice either. Nor is us letting them get out to a 5 goal break at quarter time.

Unusual for a Port fan to talk such sense.

If recent clashes are any guide, this one’s set to go down to the wire. Thrillers make great viewing - but they’re hell on the heart.

Compared to our last meeting, Adelaide regains Laird and Michalanney, two big inclusions. On the flip side, Rankine is out thanks to Snitchingwood, with Pedlar the likely replacement (and a slim chance for Rachele).

With a proper break this time around, the Crows should be fresher and able to finish stronger.

Who takes the chocolates? Hard to say. Logic points to the Crows, but history suggests we’ve got form for stumbling against this mob.

The crowd will be worth watching too - hopefully passionate but civil. Then again, it is finals footy, and the circumstances are unique…

They don't count those as multiple I50's from what I've heard.
Let's hope neither happen again but I'm not as confident as you considering how well they did a few weeks ago.

Not really any rain forecast for this week outside of a couple of small showers. Thursday itself is looking clear and 19/20 degrees, perfect for footy!

Forecast has improved since I posted that, however, with the rain we've had over the past week, it'll only take a shower here and there to keep it damp under foot.
My point was, damp conditions wont hurt Adelaides chances and anything better will widen the gap between the sides in Adelaides favour.

Civil?

Adelaide and Collingwood? Much chance of that happening as Julian Assange having a social life.

I’m hoping that any aggression that Collingwood fans are feeling will be promptly replaced by despair.
Are we seen as a rival in Adelaide?

We dont really have a rivalry with Adelaide. I certainly respect the Crows but I don't have a burning need to destroy them.

Those finals when we beat you?

Crows favourites for good reason, but we are an experienced finals unit so hoping we can switch on.

A few of Adelaide's pensioners ( crouch /Laird ) struggled with increased training load introduced about a month ago, when Adelaide knew they were finishing top 2. Walker given a rest at same time. It might get real ugly for Collingwood.

It's actually thanks to his own poor choice of words, but ok :thumbsu:

I think Adelaide has done the right thing with Rankine, the AFLs handling hasn't been stellar but at least they are trying this time.

Their handling of indigenous issues has been diabolical for a long time eg they didn't support Winmar or Goodes, Michael Long dragged them kicking and screaming into a reconciliation process by driving it himself.

Adelaide have a few issues recently and it smarts, I know because my club was the most racist in Australia for ages: two of the three examples i mentioned above were us being spectacularly racist. You eat shit sandwiches trying to fix these issues and everyone tears strips off you.

Backing up Rankine was at least not throwing your bloke to the wolves.

Anyway Hawthorn has taken the heat off both of us, thanks Jeff.

Adelaide are winning this one.

Pies were hot garbage against Melbourne and were not much better the 5 or 6 weeks prior.

Collingwood are the worst team in the finals if you judge form.

And I think the Crows can navigate September without Rankine. As classy a player he is, he’s a 20 possession/1 goal a game player and I can only think of 2 games where he’s been a serious match winner (Dees and Hawks). The likes of Thilthorpe and Dawson would be a bigger disaster if they were missing.

There’s plenty of threads discussing Rankine - take it over there.

This game is huge. Collingwood win they get a home Prelim and all that late season slump talk goes away, more time off to rest their players.

Crows on the other hand are on a 9 game winning streak, and have only lost 1 game at home for the entire year.

Loser could play Hawks and go out in straight sets.

Cannot wait for this!

Expecting an intense match up with a lot of momentum shifts. I'm bias but I think we just scrap out a win, hoping our experience plays a part in the final quarter. If McCreery is healthy and we get a DeGoey performance like in round 24 then our midfield will be hard to maintain

The only thing I'm confident in is this being a close game. Winning margin will be under 2 goals.

No doubt Pies and Crows supporters will head out after the game and have a nice, civilised beer to celebrate a good game...

One of the many disappointing things about what Izak did is that it took away from what was actually a really interesting game of footy from a tactical perspective.

Both teams set up fairly defensively with a loose behind the ball, the Crows in particular went ultra defensive with Murphy tagging Josh Daicos.

The entire second half seemed to be a defensive stalemate as the Pies used their loose to keep the ball in their 50, and we used ours to repel those entries, and neither side was able to break that deadlock for most of the game. Yet neither side changed anything really, suggesting that both coaches were happy with the way things were going.

It will be really interesting to see if either side does something new for this game. Or will both coaches be content with rolling out the status quo and leaving it until the last 5 minutes to decide a winner?

From a Crows perspective, Murphy looks unlikely to play as he played SANFL yesterday, so we probably know that that match up will change. Unsure about the rest though.
