The idea of Geelong or Collingwood winning it all just depresses me. With Sydney, Hawthorn etc, they're just always there, and get a lot of advantages.

Being well-managed and making good decisions isn't "getting an advantage".

WCE have enough clout and money to have similar advantages. But instead of making good decisions, they sign up old, injury-prone blokes on long-term deals and skip on home-grown talent so they can trade away multiple good picks for that same talent two years later (who is now barely in their best side).

Yes - my point is that it's a symptom of broader cultural issues. Pies fans are indeed obnoxious, but I've never seen them go close to what home fans in Adelaide do, e.g. going ape shit whenever they don't get a free (even when e.g. there was no prior opportunity for a HTB - far beyond howls of discontent in Melbourne), mockingly clapping opposition fans out of the ground after the Crows won, abusing opposition fans on the streets, jeering clearly injured players, and now booing victims of homophobic abuse by their own players. It's a rotten culture, whatever the admin is trying to do to rectify it (though, when you look at how they handled the Rankine case, rectifying the culture is clearly not their number one priority).

South Australia wasn't a convict colony, but I guess they're aren't exactly more genteel...

But in reality I haven't noticed Crows fans being any different. Booing Quaynor (more than other players) for that isnt exactly classy though. I don't think it would be unique to them though.

I get it, and I’m genuinely not one of those people.

I’ve always thought with the Pies that the bad rep comes partly from a bit of historical classism, but also from the fact that they have the biggest supporter base. More fans in total means you naturally have more ****heads.

There’s a reason the clubs that have supposedly “feral” supporter bases are the likes of West Coast, Adelaide, Collingwood, Essendon etc. The more fans the more likely people are to have bad experiences with that fan base.

You don’t hear much about Gold Coast or GWS having feral supporters.

I thought we were apparently all Chardonnay sippers from the western suburbs? (The rich part of town in Perth).

I think they did some survey that showed on average Dockers fans had a higher average income, were more educated etc. If so it wouldn't be a big difference.

Can't really generalise the supporters of the two now. They're well represented in all areas/demographics, though the North (of the Swan River) does have a somewhat higher % of Eagles and the South Dockers.

I think they put the whistle away mostly, that favoured us when we were on the burst.

I'm glad they called us for a few throws, the Houston one was awful, they had to improve on that and they did.
