STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Could it be the computer that people are running it on? Like my game has not been crashing, and the gameplay is smoother (still congested) than that of thursdays initial release. Just a thought...
No. My PC runs the game fine and every other game fine. Its the gameplay that's a mess, not the stability or performance.
 
I suspect we won't hear from Ross/Big Ant until anywhere between 4-6pm regarding patch updates.

Hopefully some good news comes, along with more patches for all versions.

Big thanks to Dannnnnnnnnn for cleaning the thread and putting us outta our misery.
If anything has happened the last day or two you have dwwaino to thank. He just doesn't passive aggressively shitpost after he cleans the thread like I do so it's less noticeable.
 
For all the games faults on launch and areas of improvement, I do chuckle at some people blaming the game for some technical aspects that are quite good such as tempo football and kicking. The kick-mark aspect of this game is already quite good (when the kick doesn't glitch and kick 100 m behind the player) meanwhile you can choose to play fast footy if you want. Both are viable and have different risks involved much like AFL football.

I am hopeful once the bugs and issues are fixed, it'll be quite fun to play. We can hope.
It probably has the best kick mark game out of all the AFL games including EVO 2 which relied on the limited spare man tactic to make work but the res of the game is complete turd atm.

I still don't understand how to kick on the run when the kicking animation is ridiculously long and oppo players teleport 3 metres to tackle me every time, it's ridiculous. Trying stab kicks but especially when in on goal this is a huge issue. Players recieving handballs should be able to do so on the run. If my teammate is running past me taking a kick and I handball to him, he should continue the run rather than stopping, running at the player handballing to him and then running through an entire animation KILLING the flow of the game every time.

Players running backwards (especially when trying to play on quickly) is a problem but again comes back to player movement being horrific, they all turn like semi trailers

There's no precision or composure, because you can't turn to face where you want to kick and the kick meter takes too long to fill up, along with the teleporting opposition.

Has console been patched at all?
i feel like i cant control my player at all running into invisible walls i cant even control which way my player is going
 
awww man after installing this new patch I've had my first ever crash mid game :(
 
To be fair, Quivorir said playable game, not good game.

I know the bar is about 6ft below ground when it comes to AFL games, but they WERE at least playable.

AFL 23 has yet to clear that bar. It might be getting closer, but then it crashes to desktop:
