STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Possibly make the umpire sometimes have a bad center bounce that doesn't go up perfectly straight. It could go slightly off-center either way and not be recalled back. Could have the occasional one recalled. Maybe make it like a 1/5 chance or something.
This shouldn’t even be part of the real sport…
Why do we rely on the skill of an umpire?!?!
I dare say we don’t encourage it by having it in the video game! Haha

Yeah, but you're allowed to wave your arms and jump when they're having a set shot for goal at least. Actually that's a good idea they should make it so press down on the d-pad or something and you go from stand to outside 5.

I like the arm-waving idea for set shots… been saying for years of AFL games I’d like some (very small) influence on the set shot kicker from the mark…
Like, add a rumble to the opponent’s controller… or make the HUD do a slight shake… which makes it ever to slightly harder for them. For AI it could also be a factor for the accuracy.

These things could also happen when it’s a pressure kick moment… like a game-winning set shot…
 
Wow its much better on ps post patch 7.

I switched from end to end camera which is my preferred because its too choppy.

Side far is going to have to do unless they can stabilise end to end.

I think the AI makes it easier to play side by side.

The AI is improved.

1 game didn’t crash.

Pity im going away for a week now.

Enjoy. I will cancel my refund attempts.

I still win easily enough on hard. A few goals is good enough margin when you are playing around with controls and cameras. oppo get so many golden runs still.

In Live 1, they gave you a few psyche-out abilities like running around where ever you wanted behind the mark, jumping up and down, and flapping your arms up and down. For obvious reasons, they've omitted that.
 
And 2nd game in, heaps of glitches. Winning by 10 goals to 1 and it crashes 3rd quarter on hard.

At least oppo misses a few shots now.

And they have made agility much more noticeable. Animations for it are ok too. Well they look ok from far view.

Players seem to have a role. Cant do tactics.

They have still not figured that one out i see.
 
Elite, gameplay looks enjoyable just need it not too crash.

Also in season mode can we get the side select option during game to swap between teams????

I wouldn't go that far, it's still very broken. Number 1 priority needs to be to fix user controlled movement. Those awful WW footy games have far more responsive controls than this. I still have players veering off wide into no man's land and not even responding to the tackle command when they're touching an opposition player.
 
Haven't bought the game yet. Still waiting for it to be fixed. Hopefully it's up to scratch soon.

Looks like it is getting there but until people are getting smacked up on hard I think I'll keep waiting

Interesting both you and Big Ant took my advice with the bounce, but your game's bounce button is R3, right? What do you think is better? L3 or R3 for bouncing?

I think why it isn't R3 is because of the right analog having those spin and evasion manoeuvres, perhaps Big Ant thought it would have conflicted with that. Whereas with L3, your thumb is already on the left analog stick while running, so it's quicker to use.

In most games where sprint is L3, I find it annoying having to press it while aiming in a direction. Probably just me but I hate that. For me R3 feels best, easily changed if most prefer L3 by the time it releases (my game)

That's why I suggested R3. Maybe you should make your game optional for bouncing L3 or R3.
 
PS4 update came through early this morning, the game is getting really good now, well done Big Ant :) hopefully you can feel a bit of relief going forward.:smileycat:

Things I’d recommend:
  • wind direction graphic..kicking for goal
  • ability to jump whilst standing on the mark..
  • a chest mark animation
  • a banana and snap animation at the forward boundary when kicking for goal in live play.

Quick game this morning Hawks v Cats

Started off well with a goal
Then couldn't halt Geelong's momentum for the rest of the quarter (kicking 3 against me)
Kicked 3 in the 2nd quarter (they also scored 3 goals)
Thirs quarter was 2.2 vs their 2 goals, 4 goals between both sides.

A mountain to climb in the last quarter, I piled on 6 goals to 1 point. I was expecting to get thrashed, so to power home with a win was exciting stuff.

It's a bit jarring to play, ignoring the unresponsive user controlled movements, without any tactical options. I keep constantly thinking to myself to use the "All-Out Defence" quick select eFootball has, when the oppositions forward line is completely defenceless without my control.
 
I’m really enjoying the game post patch.

A lot more free flowing.
Handball chains are happening.
AI are dropping marks and spoiling.
Haven’t seen any teleport tackles.
Pace seems the same for both sides.

Really having a lot of fun this morning.
They're using "The Force" tackles, now.
