STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I think about half a second before the ball gets to the player. Although I'm not 100% because I'm pretty much going off gut feel from the Evo games. Seems to work the same.
This. Just tried it in a women's match and it works much better. For spoils too when out of position. I still think the women's plays better. Not sure why that would be.

Rucking a bit too easy. Same for set shots. Clearance kicks and hands up are your friend. Sometimes can't switch player from the man on the mark even with manual switching on (I know you can't for set shots, but should be able to in general play).

R1 locking seems either broken or confusing to me.
 
Since the update on PS4 I am actually getting crashes in at least every match at some point (Play Now), so something definitely regressed there.

At first I thought it might have been because I had a custom player in the team (and two number 5's at that... side note, is it possible to change numbers in the team?), but I also played with the normal default teams and same thing happened.

A shame on the crashing, because, honestly I was enjoying the gameplay. Of course not perfect, but there were some brilliant passages of play. And yeah I was getting belted, but that's nothing new.

Love that the ‘disposal while being wrapped up’ is the mini-game in a match.
Choosing whether to hold onto it, or get a handball… or a scrubbed kick away…
And then… ‘was there prior?’ being a factor.

Plus also, the mis-kick when being tackled as you’re kicking… exactly right!
Yes the animation takes a while, and that’s why you’re caught when you’re 5m free… but I think the clearance kick is quicker and you’re less likely to get caught (but might be a random kick).
 
Must pester JNT BA or BigAntStudios to write up a game guide or instructions (other than just the controller layout) :p
So we actually have been doing this, won't promise a time, but I did a review of the documentation being updated in-game, as I try to review the wording of things to make sure they are not lost in translation from the Dev Team to the player.
I'll get some of the guys in the office to answer timing queries tomorrow. JNT BA

As an example for Ruck contests as I know people have had some issues with this, and now I know I won't win 90% of my online ruck contests now. :(:D

Any chance we’ll see an option to Copy custom Players and Teams? Maybe the option to download multiple copies of content uploaded to the online section of academy?

Same. Admittedly I haven’t been able to play the game since Friday so I’ve missed all the patches, but the womens games are much smoother. I can only surmise that it could be because of the one less spot on the field used, maybe the coding didnt crash for the game like it did with the mens?
 
JNT BA Any chance we’ll be seeing created teams available to use in Manager mode and Season mode? Could we see the ability to copy custom players and teams?

Have you guys looked into making the controls more responsive? The players are stopping, running into the opposition, going in a different direction than the analog stick or running around in sharp curls out of my control.

So this game that was meant to launch over a month a go has not had a manual written up yet?
 
I was actually going to ask about the golf game - which one are you playing and is it good?

There’s one on PSN store that’s about $110 and I can’t seem to find it in EB Games for a trial/potential refund down the track.
I'm playing EA PGA Tour, i reckon you're looking at the same one. Unfortunately there is no physical versions of this made here in Aus, only in the US. So we have to buy digital.

I reckon its really good, good player progress, courses look good.
 
Well, thanks to those who pointed out you can ignore certain people, but to do that I had to sign up here so may as well post my feedback that I have also put on the support site.

Posting on the new patch for PS5 (v1.006) but there is a massive improvement in there for me while still being clear issues.

  • AI is definitely harder, I think it would make the difficulties more balanced if they shortened the distance AI can tackle you from as its improved but still fairly unrealistic. It's actually weird, if your trying to get a kick away when an AI is actually close enough to tackle you there is a new animation where you still get the kick away but when the AI is too far away the original animation occurs and you get a HTB against you.
  • Clearance handballs and kicks are key in the current congestion and they work really well with an obvious skill to it which I am still very hit and miss at.
  • Spoiling is fun as hell initially but the landing of the animation still needs to be fixed, if you come across the front of the pack to spoil with momentum you should be the first person to get to the ball from where the pack was as your momentum should carry on but at the moment you stop and stumble and players who were stationary are able to get there first. It definitely takes away from the game when you see a play unfolding and you spoil the ball in a perfect direction for your player to run onto only to watch your player stop dead in their tracks.
  • Handballing is fun and occasionally you can get some sweet chains, I would say 40% if you hit a play on the run they keep running or at least feel controllable instantly and make the gameplay feel smooth to keep those chains going, however the other 60% it's almost like there is a lag after any kind of animation receiving the ball that is just killing those key moments that would turn this game from showing clear potential to an absolute ripper.
  • Center clearances have improved, however as mentioned above the lag between receiving the ball and being able to do anything sort of kills it, so many times I have received a hitout and hit the kick or the handpass button only for it to have no effect and quickly pressing it again works however by that time I am usually being tackled by the AI. If this lag was not there I think it would help clear up the current ruck maul congestion as you would be able to get quick handpasses and kicks out of the congestion much like the AI does.
As I said in a couple of my points, its almost as if there is a lag after a majority of animations ie receiving the ball, spoiling, tackling which is what appears to me to be leading to a delay in inputs and movement. Almost like the game isn't recognising inputs for 0.5 sec after each animation which, coupled with the AI's tackle distance makes it very stop start. For some reason this lag doesn't happen every single time though it is a majority, I was able to string a couple of plays where handball chains worked and each player that received the ball continued to run but its too few and far between at the moment.

Overall the game is improving and hope this feedback helps, I have tried to steer away from things I think are more likely to be skill issues and concentrated on what I felt were things that could be fixed in the game. Well done to those who are giving valid feedback in here, not sure how some of you do it when 4 or 5 of the main posters are either trolls or offended with BA for whatever reason, both don't value add to the thread at all but as I said above thanks to those who pointed out you could ignore as it made this thread much easier to read and find the information I was after.

That worked for me on Saturday night (picked up tips from reading the thread.... yes there are gems among the choas of whingers lol).

After Sunday night's patch I was losing more contests than winning, I mentioned at the time that I adjusted to tapping the ball just after the highest peak.... just as it started to drop and had a bit more success that way.

Last night I noticed that even though it looked as if I didn't tap the ball, I must have as my roving player had direct possession or in other instances was first to the ball after it hit the ground.

Another odd quirk, sometimes when kicking for goal on general player I have zero idea what the end result will be until the hoal umpire signals (camera angle is too zoomed in ??). I sometimes do see how it should be when the camera is zoomed out (and you see the white circle indicating where the ball is going to land).
