STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I said i was gonna give it a few days but now I'm excited to play thew new patch haha wish the PS one was out
 
First game after patches PS5

Hard to say this is good unfortunately, my key triggers are below

Why when im manning the mark, can i not change my player to cover off the oppositions free players?
Every time i kick it gets deflected/intercepted if theres another player ahead of me? maybe need to set the standard kick on a higher trajectory.
Handballs are not worth doing, your target player becomes stuck in mud and easily gets caught
why when i use a full power kick, does it do a 10 metre kick that invariably gets deflected?
Tackles, tackles tackles, this feels more like rugby than afl

Still think there's some shifty catch up thing going on. The AI were competitive in the first quarter, went to sleep in Q2 and Q3.... game was over, but in the final 60 seconds, they came alive again with 2 unstoppable goals.

The speed of the game needs to be lowered (won't stop the AI from glitching out and going on faster runs every now and then though - that should be eliminated entirely).

Game flows slightly better, but upon gaining possession of the ball your player can still feel stuck to the ground, takes EXTRA seconds to regain control and move. By then the AI is already on you (or if not ON you, can teleport tackle you).

Sick of having space, go to get rid of the ball, but it's an incomplete kick (as the AI has teleport tackled you while the animation is completing). It's mind boggling stupid.

Most of this has een resolved in the newest Steam patch. Players marking/intercepting kicks that should fly over their head is still in there.
Far fewer tackles, partly because the slow players after receiving handalls is much better now too.

Are ground dimensions actually different ?
Cause the SCG feels the same size as the MCG to me
If not, can someone ask Ross if this is something that will be adjusted ?
The SCG is actually pretty close to the MCG dimensions since redevelopments, or at least not as small as people still seem to think.
 
If you mean in the match summary page that's not actually the disposals.

So major ball winners is another stat? I noticed the disposals outside of the match summary are higher. Hopefully they'll fix that up.

Also on the main page for career mode I'd rather the 'Goals' section be total for the year, with 'Disposals' and 'Marks' averages for the year.
 
I've played my first full game since the most recent patch for PS this morning and I must say for the first time playing this game.....I genuinely had so much ****ing fun, it was actually a challenge and I liked taking it on.

Dumb question I am sure but are we looking at a early morning approval from PS again or has there been a miracle tonight?
Unfortunately it looks like another early AM release.
 
So I've been trying to find a good AFL site in Australia to discuss the footy, found here from Reddit :)

After no joke, reading the 200+ odd pages regarding AFL 23 - people complaining about the difficulty, etc, should it NOT vary?

Considering in real life, a team will have a good win one week and get flogged the next - eg; Carlton - they win by 108 and then loose the next week?
Shouldn't each match BE different?

Not trying to start anything with anyone, as I am brand new here - but, just a thought.

I also won't be purchasing on my PS5 until these bugs are sorted out, etc.
