50. COLLINGWOOD - Julian Dobosz
Height:
191cm
Weight: 82kg
DOB: 17/11/92
Club: North Hobart
Draft range: 40-70
Dobosz struggled to get a proper pre-season under his belt this year, but he still made quite a splash at the national carnival with a bag of seven goals against Vic Country. He backed that up with another seven-goal haul in a game at senior level for North Hobart toward the end of the season and will provide some tall depth behind Travis Cloke and Chris Dawes while he learns the ropes.

That be a Very Nice Pick

65. Collingwood - Brody Mihocek
Height:
191cm
Weight: 86kg
DOB: 4/2/93
Club: Burnie Dockers
Draft range: 40-65
It's something of a surprise to see the Tasmanian down this low, but the Pies will happily add the fierce competitor to their mix. Mihocek was All Australian at the national carnival and impressed with his attack on the ball. He reads the play well as a defender and fights hard for the ball when playing in attack.

That be another Nice Pick

Can anyone provide more insight into these players? I looked through some of the phantom drafts but couldn't find anything on Dobosz for example.

Looking for more independent reviews of these types of players from people that have seen them play first hand.

Both Tasmanians.

Dobosz is a full forward. His real strength is his ability to read the ball in the air. Is a high level athlete - very quick. Really stood out during the u18 champs and kicked big bags of goals. Is that one year older and still fairly new to the game, but is a selection on potential. Needs to work hard on the defensive side of his game - just doesn't really know how to go for tackles yet. Also probably a little shorter than I'd like for a full forward.

Mihocek is a versatile tall. Not tall enough to play as a key position player. Is a real footballer. Tested really poorly at the draft combine but like Dobosz during the u18 champs played some really good football. Strong mark. Skills + decision making good without being a standout aspect of his game. Athletically not great.

Personally wouldn't pick either, but none the less wouldn't be super disappointed if we did. Neither are poor value selections and both are ok fits into our side.

With Manson available he would be my preferred option at 50. Why he is my preferred option is because his production is off the charts (has consistantly kicked big bags of goals - even outshining Fevola). Is a really strong marking target, but why he appeals is because he could easily play in the same forwardline as Cloke + Dawes, as he showed in NT playing alongside Fevola.
The marking is his big weapon, has long arms, big jump, attacks the ball strongly in the air and takes it at the highest point. Just marks everything that comes in his direction. Would have loved him in the side on grand final day v Geelong where they marked all those high balls when they came into our forwardline. Would have taken more than a couple of those.

But he does have a far from complete game - doesn't handball, 1 dimensional and when he gets it only thought is to go for goal and defensively doesn't go allot. There is also the go home factor.

But what he does well he does THAT much better than anyone else and looks like a more talented, potentially higher production Liam Jurrah. Which at 50 I would take the chance on.

The other interesting player is Jackson Paine who Jason is giving to St Kilda at selection 68. Key forward who really stood out during the u18 champs playing alongside Jonathan Patton - likely no.1 selection. Played as a really good no.2 option. I like him allot as a fit stylistically. Really strong mark overhead. Real hard working type. Crashes packs. Good work rate. Gives the 2nd + 3rd efforts. Good field kick.

I would wait until you have found out who we have actually drafted before putting out the call for information on our draftees... No point in getting to know the most minor details on these guys if they end up going somewhere else...

Be patient - tomorrow we will know.

I actually Heard/Read Julian Dobosz was 193cm not 191cm

Listed as 193cm. Measured in at draft combine as 191cm. The latter should be correct.

Also interesting reading Paine is only 191cm. Had him down as taller but looking at the draft combine heights 191cm is correct.

Last Year they had Declain Reilly at 197cm then on the Pies List he was 193cm:confused:

Often players + agents try to bluff the height. Particularly with some of the KPPs to make them look more attractive than they possibly are.

Best to look at the draft combine listed heights rather than the afl.com listed heights.

The height listings in Phelan's draft should be pretty much right.

I have no patience when it comes to developments around the Pies and AFL generally. The more going on, the more developments, the more games, the better! I've even taking to reading stories on other clubs websites such is my thrist for more! Give me MORE DAMN IT!

If I had it my way the season would be 52 weeks long....:thumbsu:

Here's a more accurate prediction, from some bloke named Derek Hine;;)

Hine says we have a list of 63 players that we are looking at drafting, but of that 63, 15 are the "realistic targets".

I don't think any expert out there at all will pick both our live draft picks exact, if history has told us anything.

After all, how many so called experts had us picking Fasolo first last year? None I'd say.

So let me get this straight. We haven’t drafted these blokes yet and you are salivating over them.

Chances of AFL.com.au getting pick 50 and 65 right are minimal.

It would only take one pick that Hine liked to fall and viola.

I love Manson's highlights, especially his high marking, but I assume the risk with him is whether he would relocate (and stay) in Melbourne (particularly at the biggest club in the country).

I would suspect Hine and Co would prefer to take the ability risk on a poorer player than a relocation risk on someone like Manson.

So Reilly was 197cm and not the 193cm the Pies had him at

Switch it around. His actual height is 193cm - as Collingwood listed.

Probably listed height as 197cm on afl.com in an attempt to get a 2nd look from recruiters.

Why would AFL.com.au do that?

Why would AFL.com.au do that?

afl.com are just reporting what the players/agents tell them their height is.

afl.com aren't trying to boost anyones draft rankings. the players/agents are.

TD, someone told me he was 192 cms.

The correct measurements for Dobosz is 190.5cm.

I agree but 'voila' might come closer than 'viola' (a string instrument) to your intended meaning. Personally, I will wait till tomorrow night to salivate over our picks.

That would astound me. Even when there was contention over his height, I saw him walking next to Ben Reid at training, and he was clearly taller than Reid.

It is irrelevant anyway, as we don't have him anymore.

I also remember the papers saying Ben Reid was 197cm when drafted.
