Unlike most people here who might have a good idea about one club's intentions, or one competetion (ie Goalden Hawk - TAC and U18 Champs, but little on WAFL colts, Dasler a lot on WAFL colts but probably not much on TAC or what Geelong is wanting etc..), Burger apparantly has access to all clubs. Whether they feed him the truth or what they want to be out there... we'll know in a couple of days time!

12. Ryan Ablett (64)
13. Michael Osborne (65)
14. Adrian Wilson (69)

Players who were drafted yet were not predicted in the phantom draft
1. Will Minson (20)
2. Jared Rivers (26)
3. Brad Murphy (33)
4. Tim Fleming (41)
5. Leigh Fisher (46)
6. Cameron Wight (49)

12. Ryan Ferguson (66)
13. Matthew Lokan (70)
14. Brad Fisher (72)
15. Karl Norman (79)
16. Mick Martyn (84)

Weaver/Porthos/Dasler/GOALden Hawk etc... can you see a common theme in why these guys were missed or picked? I know that quite a few of those not picked ended up on rookie lists, but were they generally light, small, injury prone etc?

Of those he selected but weren't drafted some were just plain ridiculous (Kellett and Crawford were late picks AT BEST). Apparently it came down to Veale and Osborne for the last spot, we got Ossie anyway. Most of the players he missed were either recycled or players I would describe as footballers not athletes (ie Mullins, Kellett, Johns).

Those that were drafted but he didn't select were fair enough I reckon. Looking through that list only Brad Murphy and Brad Fisher were ones I would have predicted beforehand. The likes of Minson, Lokan and Norman no one has a hope of getting.

johns is on a list now though and is a bloody good prospect

if essendon get what the burgan draft predicts i will be rapt

If Port gets what Burgan predicts, I'll spew up.

Dont know too much about the under 18's competition but could someone tell me why Brent Hartigan took out the B&F in the best team in the under 18's comp but isn't listed in anyones phantom draft? too slow, small???

I'd take Mundy..someone tell me hes still growing though please.

Dont like the sound of 'our' pick 35..sounds like Brent Tuckey!

I have a gut feeling Chaplin will be a flop.

Selections exactly correct – 26 (10 players/16 passes) 10/64=15.6%
So basically this tells us nothing, part from the fact he knows which players clubs are looking at.

I just refuse to accept Spaanderman as a top 20 pick, he isn't the most talented footballer and gets through on his name and size alone.

If North get what Burgen predicts I will be no more indifferen't than I am now.

The types look about right (CHB, tallish forward and tough flanker).

I just want Jed!!!!

Yes, Spaanderman seems very high. I'm guessing his age and size have a fair bit to do with that. Not convinced though.

Don't mind Adam Campbell from North Ballarat. Pick 35 seems a stretch though.

If Richmond recruit as suggested they are officially the new Carlton.

Given our height deficiencies, what of the chances of us bypassing a still available Bill Morrisson? Especially for a lightweight midget who is 175.6 kgs (sic) tall!!!!

21. Richmond – Josh Willoughby
(Glenelg) 11 January 1986, 175.6kg, 70kg

Not a bad attempt apart from Dunn at pick 5, that is a howler swap Mclean for him and you are getting close.

What's that, Dunn at #13? You beauty! :D

I would be pretty happy if essendon got those three. All are expected in most phantom drafts to go higher than burgan says they will. Also, he says Stanton will be pick 16 and very few people think he will be a first rounder.

Agreed.

For someone that apparently talks to the clubs he mustnt of talked to Port at all well, not to mention even took a glancing look at Ports squad.

Alan Stewart said on radio we will take the best available tall player at 15. Burgan reckons we will go for a small...not only with our first pick, but with our 2nd pick too. Why we need two more young smalls is beyond me.

Not only that he reckons we will get Miller AND Sansbury....two forward pockets. Why we need etwo forward pockets when we have the Burgoynes, Pickett, Dew, Wanganeen that can and probably will play there in the next 2-7 years...where would these two players get a go in our side?

Pretty poor effort really. Seems like he has no clue at all about Port Adelaide.

Shhh... I'm hoping that Freo can then get him in the Rookie draft!

You can't trade players to jump the cue in the Rookie Draft. ;)

It would be a toss up between Johnson and Duffield and I would hope the Eagles go for Johnson whereas I am sure there are a lot of Freo supporters (I use the term loosley) who would like Duffield who Burgan has going at pick 61 to Brisbane.

I hope we don't waste our first pick on Spaanderman. We don't need him. We have the backup required for Lynch.

Backups for Lynch,

Daniel Merrett
Daniel Bradshaw
Jared Brennan
Justin Leppitsch
Michael Voss
Clark Keating

I just hope he's wrong about Spaanderman.

I don't know much about Merrett, but of those, only Bradshaw looks like he'll be reasonable choice at FF for you post-Lynch. Brennan is more of a wingman, Leppitsch is handy but you'd prefer him at CHB and he's not a long term option, Voss not a long term option, Keating similarly.

The key with that lot is none of them are young. The Lions need a young key forward. Bill Morrison could be the man.
