I'm just happy to cut the cancer out of OUR club. First time ever I've second guessed myself over renewing. I still did it BEFORE the club actually finally ****ed that campaigner off. I wish every one of our new boys the best of luck.
Discarding that prick feels like a win, sad I know.
As in Dodoro?

Surely its too early to say he was a cancer to the club. Its also said a whole lot now after hes left whereas it wasnt in his later time with the club. So i think thats simple bias showing

But surely we need to see what the club can do in the 5-6 years with the group that has just been drafted and the following year or two to come. Remember Dodoro never had a top 10 academy player, so hes already at a disadvantage

4 picks in the first 2 rounds.

View attachment 2172715
4 inside 30 most likely.

A great starting point.
Must get a elite/ goal kicking mid.
- breaks fwd from stoppage.
Who we archie perkins would be.

Think we will struggle on field next year so should get one in the top 5.

Overall really pleased with the list build approach and strategy from Rosa. You know actually drafting to fill holes and attempt to build a top 4 list profile.

A aligned selection approach and patience from the fanbase for 18 more months on field are the only things standing in the way of the drought breaking.

Seeing a clearer direction of where we want the list to go should appease the fanbase from (what I predict) an ordinary year in 2025.

If we lose games but competing strongly whilst seeing the likes of Hobbs, Tsatas, Roberts, Alwyn Jnr, Kako etc. The fans should be ok. If we continue to lose whilst seeing the old guard, the fans will bay for (Scots) blood.

eth-dog Cannons who were rated that missed out Id like to see in our VFL program

Damon Hollow (although may be a train on player somewhere)
Nash King
Cooper Herbert

would add to an already exciting young VFL contingent
King has been spotted at Coburg training from my understanding.

I know we haven't won a final in 20 years but geez its hard not to laugh at St.Kilda

1) President calls out AFL house for academies and father sons.
2) St.Kilda chooses not to nominate Elwood Picket and overlooks Adrian Cole as a possible Cat B rookie
3) Suggests they will rookie lis a player from Sandringham every year to continue the face value of a loving relationship to then not get a look in but go for fresh faced 200 gamer and perennially injured Brad Crouch instead
4) They need midfielders, captain Jack Steele even begging list management for help. They overlook some talent with 2 x top 10 picks.
5) selects one (new, young) midfielder with there 7 selections

I know we do dumb shit but please, give me a spell

Saints Cat B is full

They probably wouldve considered it if they ddint like what they already have. May be one for us to train on

Hes right eventually Brisbane and Suns are just continual win a final every year situation with this model
I want to know how Sam Marshall who boarded at Melbourne for last three years was allowed to continue being in the Lions academy

that is beyond belief

So weve won the draft period again for the 20th straight year
nuh, Richmond by a mile..

how they fleeced teams for the picks they got for the players they gave up means second is so far in the rear view mirror its not funny

Yeh cant complain

Feels a bit sick being a beeswicks away from Sims, Shanahan, Whitlock but it seems like we really tried

Not convinced on Unwin, Gerryn or Zak Johnston but ive seen just highlights of the vic boys

Bigfooty will really like our draft haul. Reckon Gerryn, Zak Johnston and ADWicks were 3 heavily liked ahead of where they went in general

No real small fads were taken after Unwin (61) so probably a stab in the dark so late. Gerryn for me is the meh one. I wanted a definitive KOF, not a ruck/fwd that so many were. Is what it is. Johnston I like as a meat and potatoes type player. Being able to play anywhere has its benefits. Plug him in as a wing, or half back or even move him fwd.

Day - Wicks is my pick of the bunch. A marking medium/small forward with X factor is something we've been crying out for in some time. I know Perkins was meant to be that but doesn't have the swagger imho.

Overall, cant complain. Excited we've suck the youth path.

Im thrilled with our draft. If we didn’t have priority access to Kako, I reckon there’s a high chance we’d take him with 9.

We addressed needs with our later picks and have set ourselves up to take a bumper crop in 2025. Couldn’t ask for more really.

I just watched the Dylan Alexander video and he talks about all the clubs on how they faired on the draft. He said Essendon “had an all time draft”. I’m really happy with our selections, I feel we’ve addressed a lot of list needs and honestly some of the players we’ve selected look like players that could of gone top 30 in a lot of other drafts, Clark, Gerryn, Kako have the traits of great afl players in the making.
Then the likes of Archer day wicks, Zak Johnson really raise our floor for 18-24 player range on our list, have elite disposal, leadership qualities.

Nguyen and Unwin I’m not so confident on making it but Archie Robert’s also gave me the same feeling when we drafted him last year. I was way more confident in Lual, but you never know they could really surprise us and make best 22.

We really need a couple A grade talent, particularly a big body midfielder and for me I’d like an elite key forward but that’s not the end of the world if we don’t get one as you can win a premiership without one. Honestly we just need these players to develop as the talent is definelty there, the upside in our squad is very good.

this is the nuts and bolts of where the club is at

were all excited about Kako and Day~Wicks, Johnston etc. until some of these kids "pop" nd become better than role players, we'll stay in mediocrity

Think i was most pleased seeing the Clarke highlights.

A lot of kick outs in the package and dreaming that maybe I won't have to see mcgrath ever kick out for us again.

Happy to wait another 2-3 years for a finals win as long I don't have to watch that insanity anymore.

Love that for the most part all of our selections seem to already have some size (for their age), can kick, run and have a genuine competitive streak. Kind of insane to think that basically all four of these elements (arguably the key four elements of an AFL footballer) seem to have been ignored over recent years in favour of super skinny private school captains from good (aka wealthy) families.

All over for this year!

Check out our new picks from the draft:
Pick #13 (matched): Isaac Kako - Small Forward, Calder Cannons
Pick #37: Kayle Gerreyn - Ruck/Forward, West Perth
Pick #39: Angus Clarke - Defender, Glenelg
Pick #61: Rhys Unwin - Small Forward, Greater Western Victoria
Pick #70: Zak Johnson - Midfielder, Northern Knights
Pick #6 RD: Archer Day-Lewis - Forward, Bendigo Pioneers
Cat B Rookie: Jayden Nguyen - Defender, Calder Cannons
