Got myself a copy of the game today... Seriously wicked game! Easy to score, but the comp finds it easier to score, so it is fun but hard!

My 2 games so far have been Dees 167 v Roos 100... and Port 188 v Roos 119

I was Roos in both games

Graphics are neat, controls are tricky but getting used to them, highly addictive. If u hav a PS2 then u have to buy this game - obviously you would be an AFL fan if u read this.

Dunno if i should play with Carey in my team, but i left him out in the 2nd match... he is the only player with no photo on profile

I have been playing the PS2 version and I think it's ok... certainly better than what I expected and not bad for Acclaim's first attempt at an AFL game.

I worked out that the best way to get clearances is not to control the ruckman and since I started doing that I was able to get the ball out of the centre. I'm still trying to work out some styles of play as it's basically long kick and mark for me at the moment.

My first 2 games were played on medium level because I didn't know how to change it. I play as Geelong of course and beat Carlton in the first game 76 to 57, then got done by the Swans 94 to 56. Then, I decided to play the Dockers on easy level to practice some skills more and pumped them 118 to 16.... who doesn't enjoy pumping the Dockers!! :D:D

So far so good as far as I'm concerned. For what it is, AFL Live 2003 is worth getting if you like Aussie Rules.

Cheers!!

About this game, I haven’t seen a footy game that has the option so far, and I feel it should be a necessity. Can you trade players/add new player to the game?

one of the earlier games

footy finals fever had a patch you could download

if its not built into the console games it might be an improvement for next yr,

but why would they do this, if they didnt want you to buy next yrs version with players you will have lost or gained in next yrs draft:D

Wait a year or two mate, and those thrashings will be returned... and how sweet it will be :)

Lethal,

LOL!! :D:D

It might be time to move back up to the next level, (medium) after I pumped the Bombers 95 to 8 and that was with me stuffing around in the last quarter, kicking just 1 point!! :p:p

I'm still trying to work out the set shots for goal and how to aim it properly. It looks like putting more skillful players in your forward line helps as they kick more accurately.

Cheers!!

It's their second attempt (First for PS2) Sheedy's AFL Coach was their first (crap) attempt at an AFL game.

PC version isn't bad. Only had a chance to try it for 5 minutes yesterday - seems like the menu system is dodgy, the last selection you make always toggles to the next selection when you press return to go to the next screen.

There was an external AFL 98 player editor that someone created that you could download which was awesome. You could do anything with it. Change players names, positions, all their attributes, trade players, create your own players, everything.

Was good considering the default positions in AFL 98 were ridiculous (Darren Mead a ruck rover? Brent Heaver a CHF?)

Have to say I like the game. Only had time to play five games last night. First game I had no idea what I was doing and failed to even score. Second game I improved slightly and managed a point. At this point I was getting seriously annoyed and was about to throw my controller at the TV :D

I managed my first goal in the third game and even kicked two in a row from about 50 on the run. At this stage I now had some idea what I was doing.

In my fourth game I was slaughtered in the first quarter but came back and lost by 3 goals, my best effort so far. Like it has been mentioned it is about a 2 or 3 game learning curve.

As for the ruck I win about 50% of the ruck taps, and in most cases my ruckman runs onto the ball and kicks it inside 50. When I lose a ruck tap the opposition takes it away from the middle quickly and finds someone free at CHF.

Does anybody have some tips on how to stop the opposition getting it inside their 50 so quickly. I find im to slow when it comes to tackling, does it just require more practice?

How do most of you guys play the game? Straight up the middle or do you along the boundary? I find my players on the wing have very low stats.

Anyway have to say I like this game and am glad I bought it from K-Mart rather than EB as it was $10 cheaper.

What level are you playing on?? The game defaults to medium but you can change it to either easy, medium or hard. I didn't discover this until my 3rd match.

There's a couple of things you can do. I haven't quite worked out how to get hit-outs as yet so I control one of the onballers and have a lot more success that way. The other thing you can do is alter your tactics to defensive which means your defence plays more tight and your midfield mans up more and aren't as ambitious at the centre bounce.

I was kicking long and relying on taking a mark for a while last night, but on easy level I was able to practice my running game with handballs a bit more.

Thanks for that Seindude. I havn't really had time to go through all the options. Just put the cd in and started playing the game :D Will have a look at it more deeply tonite I think.

As for hitouts you have to press the x button just before the ruckman is at the peak of his jump. Well at least that is what I have been doing and it seems to work. It works like I said about 50% of the time for me.

3rd attempt actually acclaim released an aussie Rules game on Nintendo about 12years ago it was very good for it's time, I still play it occasionally when my mates come round for a few beers.

First attempt at a playable Aussie Rules game.

The NES game was developed by Beam Software. (may have been published by Acclaim.....)

IR Gurus have developed these new games. (Coach and Live 2003....) They're apparently better known for developing Equestrian games...!!
