Yet another bunch of moronic changes thrown up by these bunch of clowns.

Option 2 is just absurd.

McLachlan and co seriously have no idea. They don’t seem to understand that in an 18 team competition, you will have bad teams. It’s competitive sport for ****s sake. The cream of the crop will always rise.

This would have all sorts of consequences that they haven't thought through and would fundamentally change the equilisation via draft which has only just recently become actually fair.

When you hear the news of 'priority picks' to Carlton and GC it's honestly laughable. I don't understand why the AFL would allow picks to teams when their drafting has been horrible, it's rewarding mediocrity.

The first suggestion isn't horrible but that second one dear god, finish 9th and get 10 and 20 finish 8th and get Pick 21. The afl was worried about the integrity of the game this would just open the door for a lot of tanking and who would blame a club?

Maybe because they understand finally how much free agency has destroyed equalization. Richmond on the back of a flag are about to pick up one of the best forwards in the comp for peanuts and dickheads want to complain about the team that's won 2 games for the year getting an extra draft pick who may or may not make it?

You can go around and ask anyone from any club, Pick 19 or Lynch for 5 years on 700k and every single one of them will pick Lynch. Head in the sand type thinking, get some real perspective on things.

Am I being too kind if I assume that the unstated option 3 is a hybrid of option 1 that only does that for the first round? Or some other watering down of these first 2 options - they have been put out there so that when they do change the system it seems quite reasonable by comparison. Right? Right?

The other thing to factor in is the effect FA is having on the non-finalists. There has to be a better way to address the lower clubs losing their star players to the finalists and this system does exactly that.
