I like Carlton and Melbourne as favourites, both teams have decent history against their opposition and have done enough this year to show they are ready to go.

Picking the underdogs is a tougher ask, Essendon, Geelong and NM don't look bad.

I think this should be 50/50. Sydney at great odds and I will be taking the line or either team under 15.5. The Swans have won 5 of the last 7 games and are 1 all at the MCG

Melb and Sydney have only played 3 times over the last 3 years. 2 years of which Melbourne finished dead last, but tellingly Melbourne actually played far better than expected (Syd Won both 50-68 @ Manuka 2009 and 74-114 @ Manuka 2008) however in the last game played Melbourne smashed Sydney (142 - 69 @ MCG).

I think you've cherry picked stats a little, just saying.

How does anyone have any "form" coming into round #1????

Its well documented NAB Cup games are no guide to the real season, last year everyone was picking WBD to beat Coll easy after winning the NAB Cup, a 6 goal lesson the other way was handed out.

Essendon have not been put under any sort of real pressure yet.

As for WBD injuries the only one i can think of is Lake working his way back, Cooney has had a hit out & most of the other guys seem like they'll be fine.

In other round 1 games i expect Adelaide to be much better this year, they'll be a good chance at home vs haw & i think they should have started slight favourites.

Off the top of my head:

Sydney to cover a line against Melbourne.

Western Bulldogs to beat Essendon at $1.6 on betfair!

North to beat West Coast or cover a line, good value.

I usually don't take stuff under about $1.5 but the odds for Carlton to beat Richmond are excellent. I think Carlton are about $1.10 chance. Need to work out if I am brave enough to take the $1.36.

Will be having a much closer look at these games on gameday however.

Carlton and Collingwood look to be the dead certs for round 1, but with only $1.07 on offer for Collingwood, I might have to do the unthinkable and back VI$Y to win.

Probably because Dogs have beaten them 7 of the past 8 times, pretty fair record. Not saying Essendon can't win, but I would expect a multi of Dogs into Carlton @ > $2 to be a very good way to double your investment.

Crows with about 15 point start into Carlton somewhere around $2.00

Carlton and Melbourne straight win are my picks, atm only putting them in a multi with some UFC 128 fights.

If Hodge is playing, it will be Adelaide +24.5 and Carlton H2H instead of the Adelaide H2H and with slightly lower odds. Probably around the $10 mark.

I think if Hodge is out, Adelaides Forward line will really get on top of Hawthorn. Adelaide should have first use through the midfield with a much more dominant ruck combo.

Edit: Odds would be $13.08. May do this instead.
