Hey peeps of Geelong,

Figured I'd update you guys on here, since we have a few queries on our board about tickets this Saturday. This is the latest update, done about half an hour ago.

After strong demand, public allocated tickets for the Round 10 Gold Coast SUNS v Geelong Cats match at Metricon Stadium are exhausted.

Should any unsold season membership allocated reserved seats still be available after the priority onsale for Gold Coast SUNS Club Support and 3 Game Members, they will be released to the general public on a first in basis from 9am, Tuesday, May 24 through Ticketmaster. For ticket purchases, visit ticketmaster.com.au

Not really an update per se, but yeah. Check back on ticketmaster tomorrow to see how many tickets are left, and if there are any available.

Also, re: Nathan Ablett. Not a chance this Saturday. Did his back a couple of weeks ago, and isn't a flash out of the pan in the 2's at the moment.

Dixon and Fraser likely to come back in, but those are the only two I'm pretty sure on.

Hope to see you there on Saturday for our first home game at Metricon!

I'm thinking the Cats by a fairly comfortable margin, but we won't blow them off their new park.

Cats by 42 points.

I'd rather a 30 point win from this game, with a lot of youngsters given a chance, then a 100+ demolition job with a full squad. I trust Scott to make the right decisions though, I'm confident he'll rotate. Vardy needs to stay in.

Ablett-wise, it goes without saying that a super-motivated GAJ will probably win the three Brownlow votes here, but if we can limit the damage to around 30 touches and 2-3 goals I'll be happy. Shouldn't make any difference to the final outcome.

Why does it go without saying? We've got some pretty decent players ourselves last I checked.

I do NOT want a 30 point win, I want to humiliate them as badly as possible. The team we take up should be the same as any other. Those that are too sore don't play (not too many, but a couple of senior players perhaps), and the rest pick up the slack and hammer the shit out of them. Considering we should have Ling, Lonergan and Menzel all coming back it should still be a very strong side.

Outside of Ottens (which Scott hinted at), who else is screaming out for a rest anyway? Milburn could start as sub, and I can't think of anyone else.

Carlton and Essendon both administered appropriate slaughters to this scum. For the sake of pride we should get somewhere near that.

Hence my use of the word "probably". Of course we'll win, and win well, but I'd be surprised if GAJ didn't turn it on for his first match against Geelong, it's only natural. Regrettably, he is a champion player who relishes the big occasion.

And it's not so much about resting players necessarily - that's a bonus - as affording youngsters an opportunity in a game we should win convincingly. It's a free opportunity to trial the likes of Motlop, Brown, Vardy, etc (not all at once, but you get the idea).

Im with Patridge on this one - would like to see the full team being played and a 100+ smashing rather than experimenting with players and just scrapping through a win.

I have faith that Scott will stick to his guns and only pick players that are worthy of selection.

Wouldnt mind seeing the old Cats v Bears record given a good shake

Yep, but with some common sense thrown in. If Ottens can't walk - or any other player for that reason - obviously they don't play and they get rested for the next match. But we should still be able to field a pretty strong team, and with good competition for spots right now, everyone needs to perform.

I'm happy enough for Otto to be rested and Blake to get his 100th game this weekend. There was a stat going around a couple of weeks ago that the GC were the #1 team in the comp for scoring from centre clearances for the month (obviously was the period including their two wins). So if Ottens is out Blake needs to play to ensure we don't get towelled out of the centre as Smith is a gun young ruck and their #1 midfield rotation can match it with the best.

If we are smashing them late in the third, sub the Pods off, he is probably the other one with Ottens that could do with a chop out as he has copped a number of heavy hits so far this year. Getting a look at Hawkins at CHF and Vardy at FF would be nice too.

We will win. They have only beaten PA and Brisbane. If they threaten us in the slightest, we will get angry and beat the living bejesus out of them.

10 goals + if they play nice.

HELP ........i need 3-4 tickets for the match.
Im a mad cat living on the Sunshine Coast and have been waiting for more tickets to be released for a couple of weeks after i found out they were all gone!
Im happy to take up corporate tickets if somebody has any at a higher cost, i dont get many treats each year ;)

Maybe its time to play Blake. By all reports he has been putting in a fair effort in the VFL and unfortunately without West or Simpson he is putting his hand up. Blake and Vardy might be a good trial. Otto' could probably use the rest.

Motlop would be another handy addition...

Whatever the case, we should field a strong unit!

I know I'm at odds with many of the more sensible/mature/better adjusted posters here but I don't care how much or little we win by. I just want you know who sat on his money grubbing arse, bonus points if we see some extreme petulance and frustration..frankly I want the prick to hurt (emotionally actually, not physically, not too much anyway). Call it closure if you will. I promise I will move on after that!*

* cannot actually promise I will move on after that

I'd rest Ottens, Corey, Pods and maybe Scarlett.

Would be nice to see Motlop in. How far away is Shannon Byrnes from a return?

Byrnes is set to play VFL this week.

Missed a lot of footy so needs a few weeks there to aim for the last 10 games or so, according to the coach this week.

I agree with your changes although I'd rest Taylor rather than Scarlett because he looks a bit more tired to me.

More broadly on selection, Scott made clear at his post match presser that he feels we need a large squad (i.e. at least 30, probably more) to get through the season, and that some guys need rests over the next couple of weeks. Those depth players will get a run this week, there's no chance whatsoever that we'll make only one change (Ottens).

Tickets on sale to general public right now at ticketmaster.com.au.

Just snared myself one. Happy days.

GO CATS!
