Small, bitter, fascinatingly unimpressive.

The vibes? Immaculate.
The lineup? Unchanged.
The season? Genuinely building into something, if we can navigate past a Power side that have multiple game winners and are riding high off a record breaking 108-point game last week.
When the sides last met, the situation was pretty similar - could the Eagles stamp their name on the season and make Daisy’s first year a rampaging success?
In the end, Yartapuulti proved too good, overturning a three goal to zip first term and roaring home to a comfortable 13 point win. Are we better than we were then? We certainly seem to be, and the bottom end of the team sheet seems markedly improved compared to Round 6 last year.
And yet, the Scholz/Houghton matchups scare the shit out of me, and the Power ended last year’s tilt at +11 in the inside 50s, a stat we cannot afford to lose given our inefficiency. Add in that they just (briefly) set the all time scoring record against a Suns side that we only hung 35 points on in Round 1, and it’s certainly going to be a stern test.
We’ve done very well to win the supply battle for each game thus far, and the Eagles’ best footy has been scintillating in patches this year.
We know the gulf between the good teams and the great teams is as wide as it’s ever been, while North Melbourne are pulling even further away into a tier unto themselves. But the scramble for the rest of the eight is well and truly on. Win this one, and why can’t it be us?
