AFL Throws Support Behind Controversial Goal Review Umpire

Well afl apparently admitted the decision was wrong according to an article on afl.com

Pity they won’t change anything.
Not just that decision, they've admitted that other decisions in our games so far this season have been wrong.

"The Richmond Football Club has had score reviews in its games in the first part of the season that the AFL acknowledges were not performed to the expected standard."

The afl is a corrupt unprofessional organisation. They keep changing the goalposts to suit their narrative at a time of conjecture. Who can forget sirengate and the bullshit explanations that followed about what constitutes a game finishing. Is it when the siren goes? Is it when an umpire signals he hears the siren? or
is it when the umpire hears it? in which case we're ****ed if he doesnt hear it again one day.

Now the goal reviews have opened pandoras box again. So for a touched goal review the ball has to go past the padding of the post AND flags we've been told, but when the ball is rolling along the ground does it have to be past the flags too or just the line? How many goals are kicked like Wards in last year prelim final where its touch and go over the line, which likely means it wasnt past the flags?

are these chumps for real? and dont get me started on that campaigner Hocking and what he said - this is where the industry is ****ed bc no journalist has the balls to grill him bc if he/she goes too hard, the afl will simply revoke their media accreditation.

Not sure if Garry Lyon was trying to bait the Tiger supporters but this morning on his SEN radio program stated the review ump made the call from only a single camera shot the source supposedly from someone working in productions on the day.
Eddie mentioned this during the broadcast as well, must have spoken to an umpire during the break.

Supposed to be a professional sport where people bet money and big stakes are laid. These AFL tossers don’t give a rats, just bewildering that they can keep this sort of crap going. How hard is it to have cameras of good resolution on each goal post?

About time richmond were allowed to take the field umpire and score review umpires to the tribunal.
Admitting so many wrong decisions against one team surely admits there is something wrong.

Ah ffs. What a joke.

The goal umpire says he thinks it's a goal, they go to the review and to everyone in the stadium bar the moron in the booth making the decision, it's clear that it's a goal. Meanwhile everyone is standing around waiting for aforementioned moron's incorrect decision.

Then Hocking comes out yesterday saying that there's "different footage" that shows it wasn't a goal and the booth moron got it right.

Then if that's not farcical enough, 24 hours later the AFL changes its mind and says the vision wasn't clear enough for it to be called a point and it should have been referred back to the umpire.

Honestly, what the *** is going on with the umpiring this year and why do we seem to be on the raw end of it so much this year ?

Umpires and tribunal are having a total mare of a season.

Why was Hocking justifying the decision yesterday? I can only guess because he has to take the blame for demanding process be sped up which led to the error and he tried a diversion with his ‘secret footage’ theory.

I don’t like the system at all but if you’re going to use it you can’t arbitrarily have a 30 second cutoff. Stupid move by Hocking.

Quite Possibly coz Richmond’s lawyers served the afl with a writ to see the evidence as we suspected there could be a rort seeing this was becoming a pattern in our games. Sounds like some serious back tracking following yesterday’s smokescreen

lol they admitted they wrong now :drunk:

pretty sure it's been 5 or 6 times now where they ****ed us over a couple weeks in a row then admitted it was wrong and changed the rules
