Eddie had far more cause.

This is a three time premiership winning, two time leave mvp winning, player saying she's leaving because she's always liked our arch rivals more.

She grew up there as a kid, besides she had all grown up success here.

Just wait until they suck, she’s not competing, and you’ll probably find her heart drifts back to the scene of all her success

Gotta leave home before you appreciate it.

She’s ours, only ours, she just just needs the space to discover that for herself

From the very start, Erin lifted the bar of what the AFLW could be. She laid down the gauntlet to the players who had built a footy reputation in one of the state leagues, and then moved it forward year by year. Only Erin could be stretchered off in the third quarter of a grand final and still be best on ground.

In an odd way, it's a fitting final challenge for her playing career that she's back to square one with an expansion team.

It's been a pleasure cheering her in a Crows guernsey.

I'm happy for Erin to go and fulfill her dream playing for Port.

At the end of the day Erin turns 38 next year and has clearly not been anywhere near the same player since her ACL injury. The reality is that we got the best out of her and now she's more of a supporting player rather than a match winner.

It was pretty clear in the 2021 GF against Brisbane that she just wasn't the player she was.

I just hope for her sake that Port will have some ball winners in their midfield next year otherwise Erin is going to be in for a very long year.

As others have said, 3 premierships, MVP's with us and the best years of her career. No problems with her wanting a new challenge at the very end of her career. I must admit it always struck me as really odd to see one of the real ports greatest sons Greg Phillips sitting in the crowd with a crows top on..it must have burned him to wear that.

Good luck Erin...but not so good it means beating the crows😛

We always knew this day would come, sad to see her go but Wow what an impression she made on the Adelaide Football Club and it's supporters. Simply a Champion of the game and our club, I certainly shed a tear when she did her ACL and gave a standing ovation as even I thought that was the end but she made it back to win another premiership! Just a pure Superstar of AFLW

The only player I will ever forgive for Joining Port, Goodluck personally Erin, thankyou for the memories.

The way I see Erin's move from Adelaide its more for development and coaching opportunities. The brutal reality of AFLW was the depth of younger girls coming in are becoming bigger, faster and stronger than the year before and only Erins class was keeping her in the game as she got older. At some stage, the crows had to move on, beyond Erin and bring in and develop new players. Erin will be great at Port as an onfield leader and mentor and then bridging into coaching. Its a smart move by Erin, it does the right thing for her future and it does the right thing by the Crows.

No doubt she leaves a hole, but it's a hole that was going to be left within a year or two anyway. In terms of losing players from our starting 18 to Port, it's probably one of the best options long-term. Does sting a bit in terms of trying to go back-to-back next season though.

Her comments seem perfectly fine to me. She acknowledges the Crows and how much she's loved being here, but she grew up loving Port and wanting to be a Port player like her Dad. I think we all knew that. Thank goodness we got her best playing years in our colours instead.

Unlike all the flogs that have left us over the years... Dangerfield, Tippett, Gunston and many more - you cannot wish Erin anything but the best.

Because she leaves us a triple premiership player, a star of the competition and a player that gave us her all. She couldn't have done more for the club. So she can leave with our best wishes.

Erin Phllips has signed with PA:

To be honest, I'm disappointed, even knowing her ties to PA through her old man etc.
Her contributions to the Crows have been immense/undeniable. Phillips will be a driving force at PA as she was with the Crows and will also be invaluable to PA's new players' development.
I cannot but wish her well, but gee, I'd like her to be playing with us, still.

Meh she helped us become the powerhouse of the AFLW comp with 3 flags amongst other accolades to her name so she's more a legend of the club and if she wants to pursue this I wish her well.

There's a couple of threads on the Crows AFLW subforum.

There is no question we wouldn't have won the 2017 premiership without her, and given that she was either BOG or second best on ground in every single match she played in 2019 you could make a similar argument there. We're thankfully at a stage now where she was merely a useful player rather than a load-bearing pole. She has earned the right to go wherever she pleases.

That being said, Port - hands off the rest of our squad :p

Yeah, thanks, just saw it, 25 minutes too late.

Scorpus or Drugs Are Bad Mackay? , can you please merge? I dunno how.
Thanks.

I'd leave it out here, to be honest. There may be some others who don't realise there is an AFLW subforum, this might prompt them to get involved next season!

A shame to hear it but not a surprise

Can't begrudge her leaving. Was immense for us. Put us on the map so to speak. Could not have done more. For the overall strength of the women's competition and growth it's probably a good things she's going to help a new team.

So... do we boo her?
