I guess whoever doesn't make the squad for the two pre-season scratch matches. I think they have squads of like 28 or something don't they?

Also brand awareness I suppose, will be good for some of the s**t clubs to get their names better recognition.

I'm wondering if it has to be the same ten players for all four games, or if we might put a squad of forty into 4 teams of ten, one team plays in each match? 20 minutes of exercise per player lol. Not a lot of time to do opposition research if all the games are on one day either I guess. I can see some pros for it. And the cons aren't too different from the average pre-season competition either

AFL should realise that 50 over games and then 20/20 was introduced because people stayed away in droves from the long form of the game (which is my preference).

Rugby sevens is because rugby is so boring that it’s own players want to leave it.

That is, an already entertaining sport that already takes only approx 2 hours to complete does not need some hybrid version of itself.

They know that.
The purpose of theis game is to play overseas. Not many countries have the ground sizes to play the full length game. This was developed so it can be played on soccer fields so they can expand their reach.

Meanwhile at AFL House...

Wow, even more silly reason then

I'm never one to dismiss a sport before watching it. It could be a good concept.

Agree. Would have to watch it first. Doubt it will do much for the main stream AFL comp but could be good for junior comps and overseas markets that struggle to get numbers.

It'll be handy in the middle of winter when half the team doesn't show up to training when it is too cold and wet.

Happy to check it out and if it's crap I won't keep watching it. If it's crap and it seemingly gets better over time, I will still be open to checking it out in the future as well.

Will be interesting to watch IMO. May well have a spot in pre season but it is obvious it is the package that is going to be used to promote the game on an International stage. Low playing numbers , 10 , no need for specialist position players like the ruck. Played on a soccer size pitch. They will use the highlights of this pre season to make the promotion video.

Are we playing one or two AFL X matches on Friday the 16th?

Anyone know of the broadcast details?
I'm thinking the most attention i will give will be tuning into C7, reserving complete judgement until then.
