Murphy, Duffield, Schammer, Warnock out.

Farren Ray, Mark Johnson, Kepler Bradley, Matt Moody, Ricky Dyson, Richard Hadley in.

Did I miss any? ;)

The interesting (amusing) one for me is all that pontificating about Murphy for Ray prior to trade week... and I don't recall that being mentioned a single time once trade week got underway. ;)

And Murph still a Docker. :)

Massive gamble in the draft now praying we take a midfielder able to step up imediately.

I don't believe pick 7 is high enough to get Masten or Palmer..But time will tell.

Murphy I suppose deserves another season....I still believe there is a strong possibility we have another Polak on our hand's.

If he hasn't cemented his spot by the end of next season, he MUST be traded (Obviously demanding a first round by then will be out of the equation).

We are still a midfielder short, I am disapointed this trade period we didn't get anyone.

Surely all our pick's (Other than our first two) could have been put on the table and some players.

As I said in another thread, its quite anoying that we trade like crazy during strong draft's and sit back during the weaker ones.

Sabre, looking at the player/pick trades that were done this week, we wouldn't have got anything for Murphy anyway. The only way we'll get less next year (if he wants out) is if he walks into the PSD.

I think Van Berlo as an in was mentioned somewhere and also McGrath ...

At the start of trade week, I wouldn't have grumbled if someone said this is how it would turn out, but given some of the bargain moves that were traded this week (perhaps because of a suposedly weeker draft pool), I'm surprised we couldn't get in on the act.

Yes of course - Mundy out, van Berlo in... but pretty sure that was just BF bullshit. The others were media speculation. And I think it was just BF speculation that McGrath wanted back home - and a few saying freo would be his obvious choice... rather than anything concrete. But I'll revise... ;)

:D

Of all of those - it was only Hadley that actually changed clubs.

I am not overly concerned.

Pick 7 should get us a mid. I'd rather a good young option as we need to put something in the back or we will crash in 5 seasons to last place.

1,2 & 3 look like being Kruezer, Morton and Cotchin

4,5,6 & 7 - I would suspect that the Doggies and perhaps Melb may consider Rance and Henderson (McEvoy will probably go after this round)

So it must leave one of Masten, Palmer & Ebert.

If our worse case scenario is we grab Rance - I am certainly not unhappy. In fact part of me thinks that Rance to us could be a very good outcome in the long term.

From a midfield viewpoint - we are honestly not that bad off.

Foster is a find.

Peake (played 12 games) and Schammer (10 games) hurt our pace (Black and Headland missed 10 games to - didn't help)

If Haselby gets his body right (yeah OK a big if). Solomon did well for us (shocked me) and I think Gilmore more than justifies a run on the ball without being the ruckman.

Bell staying gives us another option too, and if we may take MJ in the draft (God I hope Harves knows what he is doing on that one).

I think our MJ is developing into a player who will spend more and more time on the ball.

Josh Carr as the centre piece. If we add a Palmer to this mix ...he may or may not play - but I think the MF we will run about with in 2008 is more than capable of delivering finals football at a minimum.

Add to this Farmer available and Tarrant settled, Hayden, Luke McPharlin and Grover back to their best, and of course Pav as the front target ....I think it is all good. Plus who knows if the Drill can get back out there - maybe a Duffman might make a leap or Dunn may actually get through a season.

I'm happier with the non-trades than dud deals.

Gilmore in the ruck as an "extra midfielder" helped us quite a bit until teams sought to negate it. Either way Gilmore seems to have quick accelleration, hopefully he can work a little on his skills to take the next step. He's probably our most improved player of 2007, or at least top 2.

I'd like to see him played as mainly a midfielder, just put a few more games in him and he may be the spice we need in the middle. After he works on his skills and free kick giving over the summer of course. ;)

Duff could be an interesting one next year. If, as reported, he has looked at other options this year (and you would have to assume they were very limited given he is still at Freo) he will hopefully realise that if he wants to play AFL, at Freo or anywhere, after '08 he is going to have to lift dramatically.

That is a top anaysis:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Except for Haddrill.....but that is just my opinion:thumbsu::)

Nice work and thanks.

Mundy wasn't BF bullshit, it was wishful thinking on my part. ;)

For once im glad to see our coaching stuff not undercutting our own players by chasing every free man in the souther hemisphere!

They are showing faith in what we have, thats exactly what the boys need i think

Im praying to every god or statue we get Palmer or Masten... Though someone was right who mentioned it above, even if palmer and masten are gone that means there are still bound to quality players like Rance left...

i predict

1. Kreuzer
2.Cotchin
3.Masten
4.Morton
5/6 Rance/Henderson
7. Palmer...

fortunately for us more of the teams above us want KPP's!

The problem is we dont need another KPP urgently. We need our clearance issues sorted - thats the pre-eminent issue.

I am a little disappointed we didnt upgrade our picks as the eagles did - excluding Judd trades they actually traded in for more higher draft picks. The eagles appear to be viewing the draft as shallow, where Schwabbie indicates its even and deep.

I think we should have more aggressive and looked at increasing our picks higher also, specifically our 7 pick to increase our chances of a Palmer etc and also another first rounder or high second which would have given us better choice at fixing our issues.

I just dread that perhaps we're looking at a Rance\McEvoy instead of a middie.

Having said that Harvs may have attempted to do so.

I agree with your views Moo, if Masten, Palmer & Ebert are already gone then we should pick Rance with our first pick and then try for Patrick McGinnity with our second round pick.
