Jye Clark is not eligible this year, will be in next years cohort. Dead Set gun he is the younger brother of Jordan who the Gellong Dick Eaters drafted last year.

Clark will be a player ... watch out for him in 2020.

Claremont’s Callum Jamieson is someone I would be rapt if we picked up as a rookie.... may not last that long as chance to go late in the main draft.
So we may need to pull the trigger with our last pick , 46 is way to early for him.

Also what is the cut off date for this years draft because it says Jye is 18?

What’s happened with Harry Schoenberg? I seem to recall a fair bit of talk about him earlier in the year, rating him fairly highly and likening him to Shuey (IIRC). I’ve noticed in some phantoms he’s not in the top 30 but someone did have him at in the late 20’s. If we could get into the 30’s, from what I’ve read he would be a good get if he’s still there on the day. I like what I’ve read of Philp as well.

Would be very pleased to have him on our list . Think he comes of the draft board in the 25-35 range.
Agree another move into the top 30 would be ideal, but pick 46 will garner us a decent player.
Like the idea of one of our next year thirds and something else to help get us another pick earlier this year.

Monocle is probably right though, pick 46 sounds fairly early and rucks usually get taken late.

Hell Sam Hayes was massively talked up pre draft in 2017, was apparently the best ruckman in his year and he still only went to Port at pick 47.

I was watching Sam Mitchell highlights in the blue n gold about an hour ago, and fu** me if he wasn’t an absolute bloody legend. I wish we still had him at the club.

I was really disappointed when he announced he was retiring. Definitely thought he should have played another season. In the end it didn’t impact us at all. Him winning a flag with us would have been epic though.

So with today's news, the list management as I see it is:



That means we take picks 46 and 91 then upgrade Watson leaving us 2 in the rookie draft.

The Cat B is a long shot so not impacted with the main list management.

You’d think if not at the draft this year he’d be a fairly strong chance to go on the mid season draft if he has a good start to next year.

He’s been on our list 4 years and couldn’t break in- he probably finds himself a little unlucky our midfield has stayed relatively injury free the last 2 years he’s been playing as a midfielder. I could have seen him playing a role similar to Redden.

Also a little unlucky that both SA clubs have an influx of bigger inside midfielders. He’d find himself in the same boat at those clubs as he does with us; that is, behind established best 22 midfielders.

I imagine a big bodied mid like him would appeal to a few clubs. Essendon, being one.

A few things went against MAllen having a career. He came to the club as a medium forward at a time when we've had very good forwards (JD, JK, LeCras, Cripps). Two seasons in, they changed him to a midfielder, which was never going to be done over one pre-season, let alone breaking into our incredibly stable lineup.

He has some great tools to succeed, needs to be very deliberate about which SANFL/WAFL/VFL club he signs with for 2020 and like you said, he could be running around at an AFL team by mid-year.

I would like to see us go the best inside or balanced mid with pick 46, more indifferent with pick 91 and the 2 rookies but would like to see a defender like Jaxon Prior (probably gone by this stage) and a developing ruck option and possible another small forward (Tyrone Thorn type option).
