Can’t believe we traded all our mid round picks! This is going to cripple us, can’t top up our future squad.

Overpaid pretty severely. We paid more than they wanted last year. Only way this is a win is with a flag or two soon because we are have compromised our long term success.

For an uncontracted player with genuine go home reasons pretty shit by Geelong as well. I sincerely hope we don't with them again unless we bend them over.

Not sure severely is right, we overpaid a second round pick.

Not that anyone would trade pick 1 for those picks...

As I've said 100s of times with posters quoting the draft calculator, the calculator is irrelevant for trades and only assists in Father Sons, Academies and the like

Not to say we havent paid through the nose though, with the circumstances, Geelong certainly win that trade I would have thought

I think the Key to all this lies with Brander

If he turns out to be a good footballer, this isn't a bad deal

If he is a bust, it's a bad deal.

Because it will forever known as "Hey remember that time we took Brander instead of Kelly. Then sold the farm 2 years later to get Kelly to the club. And Brander was an absolute bust!?"

I hope this kid shows me he can play. Seriously

That's a very fair assessment.

The real targets of our ire should be those in charge of our rookie list the last 3-4 years. How Tim Kelly, Liam ryan and Marlion Pickett weren't on our rookie list before they went in their respective drafts is nothing short of professional negligence.

I understand there were personal issues around all 3 but their level of talent was undeniable. The rookie list should be used on players such as those. Not players like Tom ****ing Gorter...

Hardly. Redden is a very good player. B+ midfielder but he’s not an A-Grader.
I’m not sure exactly where you thought I was selling him short.

Those moaning over what is essentially pick downgrades, focus on the greater chance we have at a flag.

- desire to return home for obvious reasons

And yet we traded for him within the first couple of days in a 10 day trade period and gave Geelong absolutely everything we could possibly give excluding players.

Wow.

You've paid the price, but picks are always "what ifs". TK is a known quantity, a very good midfielder who hits the scorebard.

I really enjoyed his two years at the cats, I'm sure there'll be many a great game he pays for the eagles.
