Asking price for Tim Kelly in the first week will definitely be very high.
However, as it comes close to 16th October, the buying price will only be pick 24 (the original price of Kelly in 2017). Whether WCE is going to give Geelong a bit more as profit is up to WCE.
Pick 24 can get a good player from the draft and I dont see any reason why Geelong will say no in the last day of the Trade Period.

There's no way 24 gets the job done. As overhyped as the asking price has been, as the old saying goes - you don't want to go too far the other way.

my understanding of the drafts was that you can nominate your contract terms and salary in the pre season draft but not in the national draft - hence even Sam Walsh was originally tied to the normal rookie deal, and when Tom Boyd was lured to the dogs his first season was still on the rookie wage. I can’t see Tim allowing this to happen as he’s clearly looking to set his family up for life and there’s no way he lasts to us in the pre season draft. #FreeTim

Apologies if I'm intruding at all, but Geelong being stingy bastards about this whole situation and not looking out for Kelly's needs is just piss poor and unprofessional. I already hate the Cats with a passion and this just makes me hate em more. I feel that us Freo fans know we aren't getting Kelly, we'd rather see him just get home. I did think Peter Bell's comments yesterday were quite good in saying we as a club are aware of the fact that Tim wants to join you and because of that we're keeping our distance and letting you and Geelong talk things over, saying the only thing that would get us involved is if in the last hour you two can't work out a trade (which is highly unlikely).

While you're at it can you maybe try shafting Geelong a bit? Thanks

This is wrong. Sam Walsh and Tom Boyd couldn't as they hadn't been drafted before. Luke Ball could as he has been drafted before. In a similar vein, Tom Kelly can too.

My response was simply that there is no such thing as 'overs' in this trade. No matter what we pay, we significantly strengthen our premiership chances for 2020 onwards.

It's no guarantee we win, do not worth paying absolutely anything as you contend. And why pay more than we need to just to satisfy some fans that have no patience?

Keith was one of Adelaides better players this year i thought, won the showdown medal from memory. 9th in their B&F.

I heard today that Kelly wont even meet with Freo to discuss a deal. I reckon that means he wants nothing to do with them and that puts us right in the box seat. I imagine we'll be trying to combine current and future picks for a higher pick and then try to off load that to the cats. For example. 24 and 33 for Pick 11. Or future first and 33 for 11. And then 11 and 14 for Kelly and a future 2nd. And if worse comes to worst we'd offer 14 plus next years first plus 33 for him.

No idea about trade or draft rules or player history but have the audacity to shoot down and lecture callers. I've listened to a collective 30 mins of TR since it started airing last week and have already heard these gems:

Dal Santo: "If precedent played a part in trading, then Tim Kelly would be worth 3 first round picks"
When ever in the history of the universe was a player traded for 3 first round picks? Maybe he doesn't know what precedent means?

Some nameless douche co-hosting with Dal Santo: "Tim Kelly was passed over for years. Geelong took a chance on him, developed him, they deserve to be compensated".

Yeah. Kelly is worth more than Judd, he's worth more than Dangerfield. By all accounts, he's worth more than Ablett or Franklin.

Yep, Geelong are quickly becoming a despised team. Certainly, I hate them more than any other team now, even more than the PED pushing Essendon, and the Victorian darlings in Richmond, who get premierships given them on the back of favourable draws. Even more than Freo.
The cats are not showing one iota of concern for TK. I can see the AFL stepping in if their belligerence continues, at least I would hope so, or they will be tarred with the same brush.
