So many people (Bomber, as well as just now on Before The Game) are saying Geelong have played 3 prelims against Collingwood.

Mmm been to all of those. Which was the one where Peter Johnson missed from the goal square? Was that 1980? 1980 was a truly wasted season , we finished on top which was huge advantage in those days and beat Collingwood at the G I think. Pretty sure Mossop kicked 7 in the first final but as soon we went to VFL park we were rubbish. Bloody Bartlett kicked a heap on Bos and we got done by a few points.

Without checking I think it was the Pies in 53 that stopped us for the 3peat.Yeah we still owe the Pies plenty , No Mercy. Sure they have had a good season but so have we. No Mercy.

I've been drivem to check the stats - we;ve played Collingwood 8 times in prelims - currently 5-3 in their favour.

According to this article Johnson never had a possession in 1981. So it must have been 1980. I was at both the prelims and Grand Finals of 80,81.

Still hurts me more than any of the GF losses.

My parents drove us everywhere in those days.

Stung by its narrow loss to St Kilda in week one of the finals, Geelong demoralised Fremantle in the early stages of last Friday's semi-final.
