I never thought reading an article by Caro about Collingwood would ever put a smile on my face. There's a first (and probably last) time for everything I guess.
Might be her shining in her Richmond are successful glow.
Won't see it for another 37 years.
Better enjoy it now, because it ain't coming back.

We should have had a thousand eyes all over the country for recruiting, nothing else matters

All this angst and focus on a coach and the truth is great teams coach themselves, get drafting right and all else falls into place
Maybe we sack the coach then and use that money on recruiting and let the team coach itself.

Maybe we don't pay the players and let them just play for the jumper :)

(Bet it doesnt work that way.)

Quite depressing that we have missed finals again, but aren't major players in the trade period as our planning has been so poor. Yet the fools who got us here are still running the show.

WHo would you have traded for?
Lever? at best a third tall backman
Stringer? Please...............
Green? another mid sized forward
Impey? Not sold on him
ABlett? see Stringer

Just interested about what you would do. Don't say Tom Lynch. Keep it real

The theme here is big bad Eddie is out to ruin the club. But those of us old enough to remember know that Eddie has organised these reviews in the past. Plus the fact he is going along with this one shows that he is practicing good governance. If he got his way too much then it is the fault of previous directors too whimpy to stand up to him.

Not sure Ed's critics are saying / have said he is "out to ruin the club". Major criticism has been the failure of his captain's picks, esp Pert (long term) and Allan (short term) and an apparent tendency to get over involved in management issues. Re "previous directors". Three of the directors - Waislitz, Korda and McMullin have been on the Board throughout Ed's presidency (within a month or two). If it is true that some / all directors have not stood up to Ed then these three current directors might have played a role equal to any previous directors. Alisa Camplin is also a fairly long standing director. In Korda's day job he'd have to stand up to a few people who wouldn't like to hear what he's saying.

PS - I've sometimes wondered about the dynamics on the Board but looking at their profiles they can't all be yes men/women all the time.
