I feel pretty bad for the Essendon insurers, 1 mil x 34 and Hirdy's legal costs. Anyone got their number?
Not every player after a mill, think some players will be after considerably less. Also think there will be some other parties footing a portion of the bill

Surely one does not sue their club for $1mil and then happily play on with them next season? Just a bizarre situation for both player & club.
I agree it doesn't look good, but they are suing the insurance company not the club.

As much as I hate Essendon... they've already got a stack of young talent that trumps what the Tigers have.

Tigers will be bottom 4 next year.

Picking Lennon ahead of Patrick Cripps is the biggest dagger of all.

Just like the Saints picking McEvoy ahead of Cyril Rioli.
Yeah Cripps looks pretty good right now. Would have been available at the bombers first round pick that year too but we know how that ended up.

Tipped the AFL will be footing majority of the legal payouts ...the AFL too are liabile, as they are listed as an interested party on every players' contract.
... Figure has been estimated between $30-45m, once you take in to account legal bills, etc

Insurance coverage becomes null & void once you've been proven to be involved illegal activities ... AFL will have to fund this from their own pocket

EFC could not cover the legal payouts own their own, it would bankrupt them in minutes ... AFL believes they need EFC to survive , thus the AFL pick up the tab.

Paul Little can pay the bill IMO. It's small change out of his piggy bank, otherwise, I want him gone from president of that club, he's greatly responsible for dragging out the process as to where it got to.

'ASADA are incompetent,' What a knob.

What on earth are you on about

(a) players will claim loss of income from this year, playing and off-field. There'll be a bit thrown in on top, but how you get to "30 - 45m" I have no idea

(b) nobody has been involved in illegal activities, Essendon's liability insurance has covered a huge whack of the costs so far and will continue to do so.

Little hasn't been president of Essendon for some time.

As for ASADA, they're shockingly incompetent - look at the Bock situation.

Real Mensa meeting in here, I thought the HTB was good.

Essendon received criminal convictions over Worksafe charges. No?

He was president at a time of crisis and the man to oversee Essendon during their drug scandal. His and Hird's combative approach, history will tell you, was fatal. They should have accepted their 2 week bans (players).

You've proven yourself to be a James Hird Cool Aider with not getting your head around other topics. Delusional James Hird Gifs making their way onto people avatars as if, these posters are standing up to an injustice, that the AFL, who tried their best to help Essendon, as is being said to be the case by the poster I responded to yet again, was 'out to get them and Hird'. These Cool Aiders thought that Hal Hunter's Mum was someone at AFL House trying to bring James Hird and his merry men down.

There's nothing to be proud of, with Little, Hird or any of the admin and how they handled the ASADA Saga. Little claiming that ASADA were incopentent, whether true or not, is an idiot for saying this. What was the incompetent organization that got Essendon in this mess? Who was the club that conducted an internal review that read gross incompetence?

Why would you bother defending Paul Little and his comments? The days of being a Cool Aider is about as behind the times of floging a horse and carry down Alexander Parade as your choice of transport.

Why should the AFL, and by association, all the other clubs, pay out Essendon's legal bill who tried cheating all the other clubs? No ****ing way! Essendon can foot the bill, Little is a billionaire, he can foot the bill. Essendon can have some dignity, the little that remains at the club.

Alternatively, the AFL can foot the bill, it might by the diminishing available funds, be the death of the Doggies, or GC/BL/GWS/Melb... And Essendon can be an even bigger blight on the game then it already ha been?

You proud?
