In WA at the moment, they are asking people to do their washing early in the morning, rather than when they get home from work, reason, beacause pussies use their air conditioners at night, so they don't want to overload the power supply.

Right. I am going to get up early to do my washing, so pussies can use their air conditoners.

Bloody summer! It's even worse up in Queensland. The water restrictions become desperate in Jan/Feb. They encorouge less showering!

The aged care homes, the serviced units, various facilities for the under privileged, plus the aged and infirmed own homes are all typical users of power to run various air conditioners in the afternoon and early evening.

Their plight & need should be obvious to all

You mean, they are asking people to actually consider the impact of their actions? To recognise that they are part of a community rather than an island of one?

Bastards!

I suggest you move to the 'most liveable city' none of that continuous stinkin' hot weather

Excellent suggestion. Please take note Mantis.

It is ridiculous that we are in a position that energy suppliers are making these recommendations, but what do you do? Spreading the load, even if inconvenient, is better than not having power available when required.

They could ask the people who switch on their aircons the minute they get home from work, to not use them, washing clothes IMO is more important than being a couple of degrees cooler.

I'm not talking about hospitals etc, they run them all day when it's hot, just the people who only use them after work.

Society should just be geared around whatever is convenient to Mantis! Why are the bleeding hearts usually the most selfish people?

Hey, I'm not the one with an airconditioner, using up all the power. :D

Neither do I. Nor a pool or lawn, so I'm not wasting water either. If we don't have the infrastructure to handle current demand it needs to be fixed, but in the meantime, restrictions obviously have to be imposed to serve the best interests of the greater community.

The only interests you have are self serving. Very selfish.

Aircondioners aren't a necessity though, you have to wash clothes, thought that would be ovbvious to the most simple people.

Why don't they ask people who don't really need airconditioning, to not use it at peak times, they can have a cold shower instead.

I take it you didn't read the brochure that came with your last power bill, in it there were tips on how to use your airconditioner more effectively.

Majority of things in our life are not necessities. But it seems you only consider what impacts you directly.

Just do your washing whenever you want Mantis. You're the most important person in the world after all.

and thus increase the use of water - good idea there mantis. Still not heading the advice of "think BEFORE you post" eh?

Isn't this basically the same thing as water restrictions?

No one is complaining over that are they?

It obviously doesn't have the same impact on Mantis' life, otherwise there would be a whinge about it.

As long as she can do her washing when she wants, it doesn't matter.
