Did she write anything antisemitic in this case? The only graffiti I saw was anti-Israeli and I get that those two things are often linked but statements like "free Palestine" and "boycott Israel" are not antisemitic in and of themselves. She might have written other messages that I haven't seen though. It could be antisemitic if she targeted Jews to deface their property with "free Palestine" though, but I am not sure if that's alleged here.
It’s a neighbourhood where many Jews live. It was some Jewish people living close by who set up the surveillance. Sorry, but it’s getting a bit lame, trying to separate anti Israel and antisemitism. No one believes it.

It's up to you. If you want to call everyone who graffitis or shouts "free Palestine" and "boycott Israel" an antisemite I think it will be your credibility that's shot. Like I said, if she wrote it on Jewish property then that would change the context.

I just googled a bit and found that according to J-wire one of the signs this woman wrote said "Gaza is a holocaust" which I think is at least bordering on antisemitism through holocaust inversion. Gaza is nothing like the holocaust and the only reason people would say that is either through ignorance or because they like to accuse Jews of doing the thing they were the victim of.

There is a LOT of antisemitism wrapped up in the whole Israel Palestine debate though. When I see something I think is antisemitism but could just as easily be ignorance, I usually just question the person about it. Sometimes they will say something like "oh I didn't realise it had that meaning" and they will walk it back which is cool, but if they double down or evade then they lose the benefit of the doubt in my eyes.

I think we’ve moved on from semantics. The hatred towards Israel (if you think that’s separate from Jews) is way out of proportion. Considering other conflicts going on which are far more horrifying but receive little attention and no street marches. Is that because Israel isn’t involved?

No one believes the Murdoch narrative you keep propagating. Not even Jazny.

Of course people can oppose Israel and want to "free Palestine" without hating Jews. They can want to free Ukraine and want to call for boycotting Russia without hating Russian people. It's super unfortunate that a lot of anti-Israel propaganda and talking points do become antisemitic and as a result antisemitism is going crazy right now... Especially online. I don't see people who oppose Russia really fall into the same kind of hatred of Russians as some people who oppose Israel do for Jews. But I don't think it's right to tar everyone who is anti-Israel as antisemitic.

GP, you literally fell for and propagated groyper misinformation based on nothing but a stupid AI answer and I will always remind you whenever you want to take a jab at the sources of information I rely on :tearsofjoy:

I wonder if this was a Palestinian man who filmed a pro-Israeli putting up anti-Palestinian graffiti if those same people would be laughing at clipped videos of him on social media. My guess is they would be applauding his bravery.

So your first thought was to invent a hypothetical scenario?

Your first thought was to come to a thread about antisemitism and post a dishonest clip chimp for lols?

One of the easiest things you can do to analyze bias is reverse the race, gender, nationality of the people involved and see if you still feel the same way and ask yourself "if not, why not". People whose biases get exposed in this way often revert to the OMG HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIO defense which is embarrassingly stupid.

Antisemitism is a unique, centuries-old hatred that feeds on tropes. It can't be compared to the antipathy towards any other group of people.

You know many Jewish people oppose Israel's actions right? Are they anti-Semitic too?

I'd suggest that claiming Israel's actions are representative of all Jewish people is probably one of the most anti-Semitic things someone could say.

It’s… the Jewish state. The homeland of Jews. You know, the dreaded Zion. You can love your country but deplore what the government is doing.

Ok so if Jews are against this current Israeli goverment they are just people who dislike what this goverment are doing, but if a non-Jew is against this current Israeli government they are just Anti-Semites and hate all Jews everywhere.

Another hot take from our resident dishlicking Dogs.
