The only acceptable reasons to change a team:

1. If a team that didn't exist in your area now does
2. If you're very little and fickle

Otherwise, you're a dickhead :thumbsu:

Not sure how I'd feel having grown up following Man City or similar. A middle of the road team going between EPL and Championship and even League One and now a powerhouse having been bought and sold a few times with Thai billions then UAE billions coming in.

Is it satisfying flogging Watford and Stoke with foreign players bought with foreign money? Different world to most in the EFL pyramid. Awesome to be able to see one of the best squads ever assembled each week but not the same as Danny Tiatto being your player of the year.

Or Arsenal/Spurs. You pay your £50 a week or whatever it is for some rich dude to run the club at a surplus and be happy with 4th.

I like that the AFL has a salary cap and no private ownership. A 'franchise' like West Coast still exists to win games of footy first and foremost.

Yes. But not by choice. I grew up a North Sydney Bears fan in the NRL. But they were merged with the scum of the earth in the Sea Eagles, (it would be equivalent to merging the Eagles and Freo in the AFL) who I was never going to support. The Eagles then decided to go alone effectively making the Bears defunct. Living in Victoria I stopped following the NRL for quite a few years but when I moved to Queensland then decided to follow the Bulldogs. But I only take a passing interest in Rugby League and my passion for the Bulldogs is nowhere near what it was for the Bears.

I haven't switched allegiance in the AFL but since moving to Queensland have taken an interest in the Lions. I've bought a membership for the last six years. I'll always be a Bomber though.

I haven’t. I remember as a kid trying to decide which EPL team to support and it came down to Chelsea or Leeds. Had I have chosen Leeds, they were relegated roughly 3 years later and I probably would’ve swapped teams considering how much EPL I used to watch.

If Adelaide was to ever get another NRL team then I think I could genuinely support 2 teams.

Might need a new AFL team soon
Aww I did wonder if that was part of the the reason you started the thread :P . Did you have an epiphany about Bolton?

Thank you for the tag. I think I should share my story.
My immediate family is full of Pies fans and by birth I was too. Once we get to my cousins and my mums cousins there are a lot of teams but all of them are Victorian. So when I was about 4 (2007) I saw that Port and Freo had really cool jumpers and colours. I asked my parents if I was allowed to change teams to one of them and they said no. Fast forward to 2014 when I was 11 and I was annoyed with how Collingwood were going. I was naïve and wasn’t exactly knowledgeable when it came to footy, so I would get annoyed over things like Brodie Grundy getting games over Darren Jolly for example. I had lost the passion I had for footy seeing the Pies playing shit and having Buckley as coach rather than Malthouse and I was sick of Eddie McGuire. I think I whittled down my new club to either Sydney, Freo, Port or Geelong. I tried Geelong but that lasted a day. Just didn’t suit me I suppose. Went back to Collingwood for a few more months before trying to change teams again and picking Port. If my memory serves me correctly I changed to Port at the start of 2015, cause I figured I was pretty upset about Port losing the 14 prelim (i was 11 ok?), maybe not to tears but I was kind of like “****.” and then later that finals series stuck with me. The rest is history as they say. Call me a bandwagoner if you want but I don’t really care. We’re too shit to bandwagon at the moment. My final reasons for picking Port Adelaide were these.
1) Admired the history
2) Always liked teal
3) The club I play for wears teal
4) Wanted to go for them when I was 4
5) Chad Wingard was a jet (that went well)
6) If I had to pick a SANFL team at the time it would be Port because Magpies

i switched from Carlton to Adelaide when Adelaide joined
I'd been on Hawthorn for ten years by then and had already seen a pleasing amount of flags. Plus they were soooooooooooo over hyped, that here we go Camry Crow song made me positively homicidal.
