Because I did! It was awesome sitting up on my back lawn at 2 15 am watching all the meteir shower! Absolutely fantastic!

No, as Perth broke out into a thunderstorm and it was all cloudy - damn it we haven't had this kind of weather in months and all of a sudden when meteorites decide to arrive the weather decides to change.

No it was stormy in Sydney (BTW they are expecting a shocker tonight but it's pretty calm now) but I was reading posts from some guys in Canada where two meteors crashed into the road near them....so that was pretty spectacular! What was the shower like....the sky filled with falling stars?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that was clouded over.
The prime time in my area was 3 AM. I bought a bunch of beer and invited some friends over. Clouds. Didn't see meteor one.
The beer was good. After a few, we all agreed that the lack of view wasn't such a terrible thing afterall.

Turned off the freeway near Monarto Zoo (60-70km out of Adelaide) with a bunch of friends, we curled up in sleeping bags on the ground. Brilliant clear night, from 1:45 to 4:15am we saw 200+ meteors, including 5 overhead screamers, just an awesome sight and very hard to describe. They started low in the horizon in front of us, rocketed directly overhead leaving a glowing, flaming trail, and disappeared into the distance far far behind us!
Simply awesome.
