Just got home from work, went to take some meat out of the freezer for tomorrow.

Thought....hmm this is soft..

The freezer was unplugged.

30+ Steaks, 12 T-Bones, 60 Hamburgers, 8kg Mince

Guess who's busy cooking tonight?

Your wife?

LMAO...

...too true.

Oven-baking the two roasts, and a tray of steaks (8), grilling steaks (8 at a time), pan-frying steaks (4 at a time), cooking patties in pan (8 at a time), using every piece of crockery in the house.

After cooking everything, i don't think either of us will have the stomach to eat any of it.

Still, should be an interesting few days diet.

btw, we added up the cost of all our meat: $428.57

ouch.

Ummm - you wouldn't have to cook it all in one night. Meat will be fine in fridge for 5 - 7 days. burgers and mince 3-4 days. Other stuff to save wastage - slice the roast once cooked and re-freeze for sangers; make 6 months worth of spag bol sauce and freeze, etc.

Even after its been frozen and rethawed?

yeah, but PK, who is going to respond to a thread that's that practical?

I went away on holiday last month. I got home, opened the front door and thought "The house doesnt usually smell like this."

Before I left I went around and unplugged all the electrical stuff at the power points and pulled out the plugs. Including the freezer. It smelled bad and took me a week to get all the congealed gunk off the floor.

Once you've cooked it, you can re-freeze it. Don't re-freeze the thawed raw stuff. Frozen cooked steak wouldn't be that flash (unless stewed or similar)but the roast and mince would be fine. Probably the burgers as well.
