Is it ridiculous to expect collingwood and essendon to play this game after only a four day break. There should have been two friday night games involving them. I cant imagine how they could be fit for this game especialy collingwood after playing in the wet. The AFL has really stuffed this up. I can imagine how slow and tired the players will be in the second half of the game on wednesday

Don't blame the AFL, both clubs want to play on this day so they have to put up with it.

As long as no one is directly injured as a result it might actually make it a better spectacle. Good old fashioned slug fest in the second half. As a Collingwood supporter this is the sort of game I hope will help inject some 'vagina' into some of the younger players. Hey boys, have 3 days off and front up to 80k at the G, welcome to A grade. Hopefully it is close because Bombers are firing at the moment.

The only two people in the media not whining about the short turn around is Kevin Sheedy and Michael Malthouse.

They want the game, they have to take the good with that bad.

Would have been nice to schedule two Friday night games..... but didn't happen and it's not the AFL's issue anyways. It's the clubs.

Not sure if this point has been raised but Bendigo [Essendon VFL] and Williamstown [Collingwood VFL] both played yesterday.Shouldn't they have also played saturday ?

Some players might only have a 3 day break.
Ideally yes but I am not sure how much control the AFL has over the schedule. As it was, some players were held back from the VFL.

Me and my mate were talking about this yesterday... As the short break only happens every few years, just rest players from VFL in anticipation of them playing in the main game eg Bolton and Bradley did not line up in VFL, not that they are 2 good 'ins' for us...

Its not the short break that people should worry about so much: both sides will suffer equally, and then we get a huge rest until the next round.

We both have 10 day breaks to our next games, whereas our opponents have 6 day breaks (both Hawthorn and Adelaide play on Sunday).

I love the tradition of this round but its hard on the clubs backing up against our well rested sides. If the Crows get stuck with a bench full of cramps and hammys and we run over them, I guess they could question the draw.

We do benefit from the draw and maybe its the Pies and Dons who shoul have had the short break after the game rather than before: that way the two beneficiaries suffer the consequences rather than soem other teams.

fair points, but it will take us longer to recover from this game than it would from any other game, becuase of the reason we are playing sat/wed

Neither club cares and neither will on the day. Ess V Coll 90K @ the G, Dons winning by 5 goals, James Hird wins another ANZAC medal. What more could people want? Rhetorical, no need to reply Collingwood supporters :p
