You don't get to Prelim finals if you're a soft team, hell you don't make finals at all if you are.
I never understand the need to belittle opposition teams or organisations after the fact. They played abysmally today and WC were very strong. Their season is over whilst ours remains alive for another week. If you can't respect opponents at least don't disrespect them!

Enjoy the joy our team is giving us, respect all others and look forward to what we can achieve.

Wise words.

McClelland trophy & 1 mill for h&a, yet comes finals the dees disappeared with less of a whimper than the umpire’s pet Curnow. That’s some achievement. Congrats to them though on claiming 2 expected premierships!

Mainly foxes around the Ballan area

Also rabbits and feral cats

And, one day, a large brown trout as it wriggled across a shallow rapid

He and my uncles used to load ammo at our dining table

We also had a shooting truck - a decommissioned Korean War vehicle with big gun racks, swivel strap-in chairs, and a spotlight

Was always impressive getting dropped at school in the shooting truck

One uncle, lovely guy who played a few games for Hawthorn under 19's, was later in life about 150 kegs. He would sometimes stalk rabbits with 2 pistols, light on his feet like a ballerina.

I would sometimes tag along.

Mum would pack a cold chicken, leg of lamb, loaf of bread, fruit cake, apple pie, chicken-in-biscuits (sp), and various beverages

You can imagine how impressed the family was when I converted to vegetarianism (Edit: and studied Arts)

I just read this post after 5 years and saw the ballan reference. My family lived in mount egerton for years and i've got a photo on the wall from 1912 or thereabouts and the whole family had guns except for the girls...

it's such a lost tradition, shooting guns and killing things....

Their car wash idea for Haileybury misfired so I’m wondering how they funded their preseason camp this year. Rumour is they were preparing to roll it out at all the prestigious schools.

Being flogged in a prelim doesn’t mean much. We were flogged in the 2009 prelim whilst Geelong were flogged in 2010.

It means WCE didn’t get much of a workout before coming across to play us in the GF. Would have preferred a draining slog over four quarters, with some key injuries to boot, not a glorified training run.
