You think back to how things were centuries ago and how slowly humans were advancing as a civilization.... you can't say there was much difference between say the year 1000 and 1100 but you compare 1912 to 2012 and its off the charts.

Are we, as humans, just doing it all too quickly all of a sudden? I'm enjoying all the new gadgets that are showing up around me the last few years, but you have to think where is this all leading too since such rapid development is only a relatively recent thing.

Nah I remember back in 1005 it was way different to say 1017. Then we got Brussels spouts in 1060. Those were the times. Houses were cheaper.

Globalisation spreads advancements through civilization much quicker. Inventions were constant back in the day, I remember when Craig invented the wheel, but Phil and Margaret didn't head about it for 3 seasons. Suckers.

We might have been neighbors. I remember in 1058 I bought the old Miller house with an on-property stew poind for 4 goats and a sack of barley. By 1060 the place was valued at 3 goats! i took a bath on that one, i can tell you. Six years later and the whole country was crawling with ****ing French!

We did have hoverboards and flying cars then though. I had forgotten about those. If I remember correctly, the new king, William outlawed them after one of his mistresses crashed into a goat and had to have her leg sawed off. HA! Willie was a nice guy otherwise, but he died owing me a goat, the ****er.

Sigmoid function, it's all good.

salient point -

'Advancement' per se, is not the problem, although an economy based on perpetual growth and consumption, instead of equity, certainly poses many problems in the future -

Consumerism is the most dangerous phenomenen of our times

Amen.

It will all be coming to a screaming halt very shortly, I assure you.

We have advanced fast in the last 100 or so years because of some major discoveries/inventions. Computers, AI and the evolution of engines.

I'll never be happy until we get robot maids like Rosie from the Jetsons.

Why the hell are Apple wasting their time on iPhones and iPads when they could be making iMaids?

Waste of technology.

Don't you mean 'iTechnology"?

And if the Nazis and Japs won?

When people talk about the future, the flying cars always get brought up.
Seriously, what advantage does a flying car have over a car on wheels? Unless these cars are capable of travelling across the country or overseas then why do they need to be in the air?

It would be significantly more dangerous. Imagine peak hour traffic hovering 20-30 metres above the ground, it'd be chaos. And what if your flying car broke down mid-flight? You could almost certainly lose your life over something as simple as your engines stalling etc etc

Sounds like a religious fanatic talking ...

The farther & faster we go the better.
