After an almost 10 year career with major injuries in every single one?

Still think, no matter how this match turns out, Brisbane will go back to back
Yeah thatās what we want.Possibly, but as long as it's Anyone But Collingwood I'll be happy.

Missing the point though. He's a good player that we lost for nothing. We can't keep losing talented players without getting return for assets.
What were we going to get for him? Please tell me
I thought Geelong was the retirement home.Guess we're all Cats fans for this final series now, likely the only team that can topple the retirement home.

I'm not okay with it. But something had to change with Martin, Marchbank, Cuningham especially. Martin still missed 3 months with a calf injury this year. Carlton fans would've burned Ikon Park to the ground if we had've retained him and he missed 3 months with another soft tissue injuryWe shouldn't have got rid of him. Should have put a better plan in place to get his body right. With a new fitness guy and a fresh set of eyes on the situation we could have set him up for success. We put it in the room bard basket and another team has seemingly got him out in the park whether that continues longer term time will tell.
It's all about smart trading and releasing talent for nothing is not smart. You weigh up the upside of getting his body right vs going to the draft with a late token pick or picking up a delisted free agent etc. Are those guys likely to be best 22 long term themselves.. maybe but unlikely.
And let's not make this just about Martin. I'm talking historically with us. We've failed to get a lot of players bodies right. We've also let a lot of players go without getting any return for them. You may be ok with that level of management but I'm not. Every time you go to the draft and get an asset on your list, if you let them go for peanuts or nothing you have failed because you start with limited currency each year to bring in assets.
YepYou realise he missed 3 months with a calf injury at the start of the season
Nope- Geelong v BrisbaneGeelong V Collingwood GFā¦oh goodie.

How many players have we had over the last decade or so who've had similar rehab plans and have led to reinjury?
HAs seemed endless.
There's injury prone players and then there's clubs who are injury riddled constantly. We've had the latter far too long without identifying causation.
We aren't in a position to be hanging onto injury prone blokes that miss half a season every year with soft tissue injuries. The cats took a gamble, and it's worked i guess (they are in the same position they were 12 months ago, so its arguable)Removing all those guys at once was a lot of talent released for zero return. We couldn't retain all of them but I would have persisted with Martin. Marchbank was absolutely spent and Cuningham wasn't as high a calibre player as Martin. Change was needed but I disagree with how hard we cut that talent all at once.
Geelong put a program together

As Jack Martin's body failed, his mind started playing tricks on him
Jack Martin still has doubts in his body but, as Riley Beveridge learned, Geelong has helped make footy fun againwww.afl.com.au
They looked rattled tonight.Still think, no matter how this match turns out, Brisbane will go back to back
And he still missed 3 months with a calf injury. Am I missing something here? Or are we looking for anything to piss on the club about?Geelong put a program together
