Is it true Ash couldn’t finish the 2km time trial? Heard from a club source that he had to be talked to by a few of the boys but I wasn’t sure, surely he was able to at least finish it nevermind the terrible time
I can't comment on what was said to him but a I can confirm the timer used a calendar.

I heard he came last but not sure about not finishing
Getting lapped by Whisper, who wasn't exactly setting an Olympic qualifying time (6.23 from memory vs the best draftees running sub 6mins), was pretty poor.
There didn't appear much left in the AJ tank at that time, with a lap (for him) to go.

We can all see AJ's talent. Perhaps the rough edges are also to be expected given the pathway he has taken to get to where he has.

The delisted table is littered with those who didn’t take their opportunity seriously. And then are left to wonder what went wrong. Or even more so, blame the club and others for their own stupidity…..

I've always wanted to ask this.

What happened that day you snotted that Geel reserves player at Kardinia Park & you got chased by their players & ran down the wrong race?

How fast did your sphincter puck?

And to think I was worried about Keeler not being able to finish a session

If your post is referring to AJ, the bolded are assumptions which reflect poorly on him.

If his fitness is an issue, there may be other reasons for it. While a mature ager, he still lacks experience in the system. I think we should see what happens this coming season before jumping to conclusions about his attitude.

Precisely.
Old school mentality was to use the pre season to get fit for the season.
The “new” alternative takes a while to sink in for some players.
Deserves some latitude.

His defensive efforts were horrible last year, needs to pull his finger out if he wants a career.

Having talent is not enough anymore.

He will have been told about his defensive efforts. Some players improve; some don’t. Let’s see how he goes in ‘23.

Second reply!

While this is not necessarily meant for you, I get the impression that some
posters can’t wait for a player to fail.
Johnson will be firmly entrenched in our forward line next year. The poor bloke was beaten up after the first final and just couldn't produce second efforts. People need to chill and give him a chance, I think he will have a great year next year

Everybody has there favourites some they want to see succeed and some they don’t particularly care for.

I’ll be honest and say I never liked Henry from the moment he was drafted, never saw much to change my mind since then and I’m now glad he’s gone.

True re favourites.

I really liked Henry, but now I wish we hadn’t drafted him. Could have used that pick on someone else. And could have done without the months of speculation about him leaving.

The most draining thing about Henry for mine was the discussion about him on here.

And it’s still going! I haven’t read the Henry thread in months. Can’t bring myself to look at it.☹️

you won't have to after we win the flag next year. I have the same feeling as I had at the end of 2009, when I just knew we would win the following year

Sounds very much like he could be suffering the after effects of Covid. Not sure if he actually contracted it or not, but this definately one of the side effects. Speaking from personal experience.

its funny how some players can be loved by some and hated by others. The reactions probably say more about the people making the judgements. If johnson ends up being an offensive weapon, even the coach will probably make concessions even if johnson doesnt find defensive stuff appealing. I'm thinking of dusty here. As for henry, hes a geelong player. If other players start wanting to leave the club, then it might indicate a problem that I might be worried about but some boys need their mamma and it's a waste of time trying to convince them otherwise. I must admit that i'd to see him break a leg but i cant really separate that assessment from any other opposition player.

AJ’s part in this team is in his own hands. I wish him well. But from what happened at the end of last season. And how he has come back. It doesn’t bode well.

Those who don’t rate Henry, do so at your own peril. I know how good the kid is and what he is capable of. He was one of our best young players with the attributes needed to succeed at AFL level. He is now even bigger and stronger and will take over Rowan’s role as the 3rd banana soon enough, in a dominant forward line.

Being reclusive and introverted shouldn’t be reason to hate the kid. Especially coming from those who preach tolerance. This trade has my interests well and truly focused for the year ahead. Very disappointing losing a kid like Henry especially if it was AJ that he was competing against.

For our sakes and his own. I hope AJ is as productive over the next few years.
