A conversation. Asking for clarification and reasoning for Christian belief is legitimate in 'Ask a Christian". This isnt a thread for proselytizing.

Start one up. Ask away.
You being the anti-theist will need to start the thread.
Unlike my friend, it is not a thread I would frequent at all.
I have had all my questions plus more answered here. Without even asking the questions...!!

It's not me that would "love there to be an ask an atheist thread as there are lots of questions I'd be interested to ask the atheists on here"

True.
Let's leave it at that then.

You are like a dog at a bone. It is too difficult for me to consider.
I am, because I don't recollect anyone in my youth going that far. No person who taught me religious education at any point told me that either that it is only through God that one can love their family (the positive slant) or that those that do not believe in the christian god are incapable of love (the inverse). There's plenty of stuff stating that only through god can we know love, but the inverse was not something I'd considered. I was shocked when boston tiger said it, and I'm still shocked.

I keep asking, because I want to know the answer. Why is it too difficult to cosider?
Having hung around this thread long enough this year, it's obvious what the genuine questions are.
You do not want the words of the true faith- your reaction to actual scripture is derogatory.
With respect, you hardly treat the scripture with the respect it warrants from a true believer. You choose which parts to follow and which to ignore.

If you answered a question once put, then I'd go away.

That is more profound than many here will accept.
There is some circumstantial evidence for Christianity. Nothing concrete. Nobody is doubting that you've had an experience of sorts.

If you were god, would you judge people with no end date to their sentence based on whether they make a paradigm shift because of circumstantial evidence and subjective experience that appears to be tied to culture? The ethics of and methodology involved are questionable for an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving creator.

Christians aren't capable of real love. Their loyalty towards an imaginary sky pixie ensures they'll always be more loyal to delusion than people. ;)

I feel sorry for the women who marry Christian men that view themselves as the head of their home. I'll bite my tongue if it happens, but I hope my daughter never gets romantically involved with someone of faith.

Christianity is not a cult, and conspiracy theories abound in this thread.

What conspiracy theories would that be? Having a 'vision' of someone existing is the only evidence of the Messiah? If Jesus was so remarkable why is there zero evidence outside of the Gospels? (which was written many decades after Pauls letters) why no one wrote about him? The vision (of a clearly crazy person who was a murderer too and who never met Jesus) is all you got? Then why is Mohammed wrong? he had a vision too you know. You never answer questions, this is the problem. I (and Roy) have provided ample evidence of how it's copied from other religions which came before Christianity, why don't you do some independent reading yourself before dismissing it? the conspiracy theory would be the 'saviour' argument which both Jews and Muslims (who worship the same god) don't believe in. So you absolutely have zero evidence behind your claims, yes yes i know faith this and that but it's the same as other religions. Yet again you got nothing. It's claims similar to Muslims and Jews, but you must be right cause you think you are right?

The real conspiracy theory is the cult you believe in, without evidence and yes you are not alone in it.

Roylion is like the Game of Thrones fan who knows the histories of even the minor houses.

I salute it.

That's why Vdubs dislikes him. The number of times he asked questions to vdubs only to be answered 1. I have faith that this is right 2. it survived 2,000 years 3. Jesus is so popular. Its always one of these 3 arguments. There's been no replies outside of these 3 points, adding no substance to the discussion, as usual.

Just show me the evidence.

I like Roylion. Never attacks the poster.

Go ask Boston Tiger. It was his post. Ask him the context of his statement. I am not the spokesperson for other believers- hard enough getting my own posts across without derision, let alone someone else's.
Why so shocked? You don't believe anyway. Sounds like another of your overreactions.

I have. He hasn't responded in this thread since.

I am shocked, because I honestly thought you were better than that.

It's for you to decide. Answer my question or realize that the silence is damning enough.

you said you were shocked at his post, now you're shocked because I'm not playing your game. Harden up.

I like Roylion. Never attacks the poster.

You have accused him of using wikipedia and accused us of being conspiracy theorists, when he is the most knowledgable in history amongst all posters here, he has quoted reputed NT scholars (several ones) and yet you say he has quoted wikipedia. A bit rich coming from someone who takes the gospel as the 'truth'.

With all due respect to Vdubs, he never answers any questions.

Boston Tiger is a fundamentalist Catholic, and the spokesperson for Catholics recently said even Non-Christians can go to heaven and you don't need to be Christian to go to heaven. Vdubs claims John 14:6 says christianity is the only way to heaven is in dispute from the biggest Christian leader who claimed you don't need to be Christian to go to heaven. So is he wrong Vdubs??

No, Roy is the cure.
When we marry up a guy that is a historian, that has traveled to the old world and gone on digs with the Israelis to understand that the parting of the Red Seas never happened, that the Jews were never in Egypt, where we find ourselves is that the second book of Abraham is utterly false.
My head tilts softly to the left and I put my queen into the kill zone, you have no move bar faith, and I don’t care, because here comes my bishop pair, this game of faith versus reality was lost when Charles Darwin penned his Galapagos diaries, the universe as we knew it, fell apart and a new world arose.
It’s as simple as that!

John 14:6.

The vast majority of Christians don't want to know the truth. You only need watch the methods they use to defend their cult from legitimate attack to see it.

Labeling renowned historians as conspiracy theorists is utter horseshit. The same poster who made that claim refuses to recognise that he's religious or a cult member. It's the epitome of self-delusion.

Maybe Vdubs can explain what part of what we discussed is a conspiracy? And i want proper answers, not 'but 2,000 years of Christian history and 2 billion followers can't be wrong". In human history vast majority of the things we knew were proven to be wrong. Of course this cannot apply to religion cause of faith, but look at science, which Christian these days believe that the Genesis is correct? any one? they have now resorted to things like Genesis is a methphor to hide the utter gobshit that Genesis is.
