For some quirky reason, I have little interest in discussing Christianity with a non Christian who claims to know more about our faith and Bible than long term living and practicing Christians do.
Really? All aspects of our nation...free tax ride...just inaccurate.
Maybe ask yourself why you know more than those you criticise.
Not really agendas, just pop in here for the occasional laugh. I'm retired so I usually have plenty of time on my hands.why do you all spend so much time doing so then?
isn't this bizarre?
denigrating a non-existent being..
you all clearly have very strange agendas.
LOL! this is common knowledge, Jesus, you really live in your own bubble holding hands with Jesus. All aspects of our nation...free tax ride...just inaccurate.

My grandmother on my mother's side was dirt poor, living in one of the worst parts of Melbourne. She wound up having 5 children, but after the 4th seriously contemplated giving the child up for adoption, but went to her parish priest for advice. The man told her to keep the child, the community would assist. She did, but the community did not give a whit for her or her child, and the time she spent chasing after her children shortened the time she did not have left.1. You can elaborate on your dealings with poverty, shed some light on the matter, and while you're at it, tell us how you deal with the afflicted better than Christians do. Not for me to comment on.
Moral ambivalence, demonstrating weakness of character.2. Nothing more needs to be said.

She died from cancer about 10 years before I was born.
I have spent 4 years of my life on the Newstart. I have been stony poor for significant amounts of my life. There have been times in which I had to choose between buying petrol and eating 2 meals a day for a week. There have been times in which I've not been able to afford the electricity to heat the water in the flat I lived in.
Where was your god or your christian charity then, Vdubs? Was it in the hoops I had to jump through in order to get rent assist? Was it in the Work for the Dole program I was placed in (in a baptist church ran op shop for wealthy people) despite being a full time student at the time and not being required to by legislation? Was it in the fact that I made more money for those simple women (who failed to recognise an author's signature on an original print of My Brilliant Career) on my first day than they made on most of their products; that is, except for the jewelry that got left to them. That went back into the parish coffers.
So, Vdubs, you tell me about my ignorance of poverty or its alleviation. You tell me of my petty world view. Mouth your feeble platitudes.
At what point do they taste like ashes, Vdubs? When do the words fail to scratch that ill ease inside?
Go on, reach for something faux pithy. I'll wait.

I believe Jesus listens to every single person who genuinely turns to Him at a time of need in their lives.I have seen the worst of poverty & faith when i was in mining in Africa, in mostly Christian nations. Children dying of malnutrition, yet parents have the faith that Christ will magically get them food on the plate. I have seen the worst of abortion clinics there where women were denied the right to abort after being r*ped. I have seen how people resort to faith healers than going to the hospital, how people resort to 'magic water' from the local priest to cure yellow fever than taking medicine which they can't afford anyway etc etc. Remove western culture and you will see the bare bones 'faith' brings in the lives of the less fortunate ones. It's a savage world out there , the ones like Vdubs who think Jesus is listening to him while granting him personal favours are self absorbed and full of sh*t in general.

I am not 68, irrelevant. Jesus does not respond to the privileged ones mainly- that was not his modus operandi. Living in this country may be our good fortune to some extent, but we still have per capita, nearly the highest rate of mental illness. Things are not all great in this land of plenty. You wonder why god responds to the priviledged ones mostly? cause he resides in your brain. I speak from experience, outside of western countries, the condition in christian countries is grave and they are far far more religious than the west will ever be. Suggesting they have less faith than you is extremely hypocrtical and a buillshit assumption. People in Africa are extremely religious and they will do anything for the Bible. They go to Church twice a day, they observe prayers at home, reciting verses before you eat etc etc. You have a lot to learn about life and at 68, you dont hope anymore.

When I lived in india, it certainly was an eye opener seeing the simplicity of what made them happy. And certainly the orphanage we went to was a Catholic
one, and the whole place was run extremely well, and those kids were the highlight of our time there.
Christianity has a vested interest in human suffering and misery, because the only way for them to remain relevant is for the world to be broken and people to be in pain
That way, they can swoop on vulnerable, hurting people and leverage them to their religion in exchange for basic survival needs
If religious charities can't convert their targets, I bet ya most their charities stop. Not to mention the unsupervised and shady nature of their charities, which often have loads of siphoning into their own pockets going on
If the world really wants to progress and evolve, then Christianity can't be a part of it, they have an interest to hold everyone back and keep the pain going just so they can play the "saviour". No surprises that countries with the best living standards have little religion, they are not needed there
It is the basic nature of most scams and con jobs: create a problem, then be the solution of the problem you created, then profit

3.1 million children die each year from malnutrition, these children probably weren't sincere enough with their beliefs.Or god was doing something else so the prayer went unanswered.
God does not exist and if it did it is a narcissistic, genocidal psychopath.

They say intelligent life evolves via processes across multiple historical and biological epochs. If true, the discussion in this thread indicates that we are still very much in the beginning stages, if not moving backwards in a state of devolution. You have the patience of a saint, Vdubs.Just a snippet of garbage we have to read if this thread is to be taken with any respect.
I doubt this type of posting would be tolerated on any other thread.
Great to be gutless anonymous keyboard warriors.
What is the real worry is what is on your hearts to inspire such writing.
Ortwo options here :
1. They are christians, but not sincere ones, hence, god said 'be more sincere' then i will listen to you.
2. There were Muslims, so Jesus decided, 'you don't even follow me, why would i listen to you, go fu** yourself'
OR
3. God was busy listening to priviledged ones like Vdubs trying to get him a ticket to heaven.
Either of these options will tell you what a sadist psychopath he is.

You come across as being extremely eloquent, emotionally stable, and highly intelligent. I thought you were a high-flying lawyer until you posted otherwise. My grandmother on my mother's side was dirt poor, living in one of the worst parts of Melbourne. 1. VW enjoys arguing and lacks the self-control to pull himself away from a thread in which he offers little but providing himself as an object of derision.
2. If you believe in a book that glorifies the smashing children on rocks, genocide, and killing gays, you probably shouldn't be offended by discussion about big ****.
3. If VW accepted the theory of evolution, he would have proposed something beyond creationism.
I facepalm when I see Christians take offense at some humour about their imaginary friend. If our jokes offend you, but you support a tyrant who will judge people eternally for non-belief in your fiction, you have a character flaw.
