It seems Hinkley and Tudor leaving hurt our strategic base. Blake and Nigel might not be good enough. Interesting to see if there are any changes post season, Blake for me needs to go.

not to mention fitness staff being poached by the scuns

What has happened to David Wheadon? He was employed by the Cats on a part time basis and i wonder if he is still employed by the Cats?

I think there would be no changes to the coaching staff. I could see the possible employment of a part-time ruck coach and forward line coach to work with the coaching staff on a weekly basis.

Collingwood smashed us in the centre bounce clearances and with Brad Ottens having 2 to 3 years left in him, I think a ruck coach of Sam Newman's stature could come in handy.

The FOotball Department made a huge mistake in not promoting Shane Mumford onto the senior list at the start of the 2009 season and making the tough call in trading Mark Blake. They decided to keep Mark Blake and it appears he will not fit into the 2011 Geelong game plan!

WTF?! They're going to take our whole club soon.

blake should go, I would keep nigel.Hes very well spoken ,played under mathews ,3 time premiership player with a great work ethic and was part of our 09 flag.He reminds me of bomber thompson which is a good thing

we should do everything we can to pinch someone from collingwood, stkilda or hawthorn. In fact i beleive this is a must

by the way when did the suns take our fitness staff ?

head of conditioning walked

yeah really highly rated
might explain the fitness issues going into the finals

we also played better football in the first half of the year than the 2nd half.

to be honest i dont no the names of all the assistants at stkilda, hawthorn and collingwood but is their anyone we could target at those clubs ?

this could help more than some might think.Back in 07 we learnt how to more effectivley run and carry the ball when sanderson joined us after going to port. st kilda also learnt how to play high intensity game and win contested footy after they got tudor of us

On the outside how can you tell the merits of an assistant coach.

Cresswell joining seemed to have a large correlation with the improvement of our midfield, Bartel in particular, but ultimately........

I don't think Blake Caracella should be blamed for what was ultimately a game plan and selection problem. He's the forward coach, or the attacking coach or whatever you call it, and Geelong kicked more goals this year than in previous successful years. The real problem was that Collingwood systematically destroyed our game plan, and that the kids who were part of all the H/A wins were dropped in favour of the experienced guys, who were just not up to it anymore.

Blake was an assistant at Collingwood (forward line and later opposition coach), spoke well, played under Matthews, Malthouse and Sheedy and is a 2 time premiership player. It's not that easy to spot a good coach, not that Blake isn't. I think you're all jumping to conclusions just because he is new.

who you thinking?

Whatever surgery Corey had early in the year, he's either still suffering from it or he's just not quick enough anymore. Ottens' effectiveness was minimal when up against a genuinely mobile Gardiner or Jolly, poor Ling looked like the fat kid who was always last in the running race, and will either have to play forward from now on or not at all, Milburn found himself without space too many times...

It's not fair to single out a few when almost everyone had a shocker, but there have been a few who are getting a game on reputation rather than on performance, and all credits in the bank aside, we will need a few more sets of young legs in the team. At least a Taylor Hunt and Mitch Duncan/Daniel Menzel getting 15-20 games next year.

Ive heard all our assistant coaches talk and their is just something about lappin that reminds me of bomber .Its an ability to motivate players and get the best out of them

the reallity is someone should go so we can bring in a new coach and it just has to be blake.the others have been assistants in a premiership side, blake hasnt.

also lappin was key player in the greatest side of all time.He knows how that great side was created ,developed, molded, managed how it operated and declined.

I want our next coach to be someone who either knows the system that won the lions 3 flags or the cats 2 flags inside out.thats not blake

So does Vossy. We know how putting him into a senior coaching position worked out.

I would vomit my guts out if a coach like Vossy came in and tore apart our club with moronic deals, trades and decisions which lost us our greatest players.

when trying out a new coach you can never be sure.the bottom lines is it helps when youve been part of a succussful system like sanderson and lappin have.if bomber leaves at the end 2011 one of these 2 should take over.

also part of the problem with voss is that he didnt do an apprentiship and has a touch of arragance about him as a coach

Ken Hinkley was an enormous loss. Thank him for the strategic thinking and the connection with the players. Very underated at Geelong and should have been the Senior Coach.
