Love having a full time cricket channel. Most of the footage they show might be available on Youtube etc but it’s nice having a selection of matches decided for you and something you can just keep on in the background. Hopefully they sustain enough diversity with their content so that I don’t end up watching Michael Clarke scoring 329 for the 50th time by the end of the summer [emoji6]

Wth? *Ian Healy* is now one of the Fox commentators?

What a major disappointment.
Not for me. Only because I don't have Fox.

Slater on the other hand ... bitter disappointment. He was one I was sure was too much a Nine identity to get a gig, and the second worst cricket commentator Australia has produced. (O'Donnell was so bad even Nine got him out of commentary pretty quickly.)

501 on Fox.

There are 13 matches on Fox Cricket with the rest on the CA stream. The 13 on Fox Cricket are:

Tues Sep 18: WA v SA @ WACA
Thurs Sep 20: SA v NSW @ WACA
Sat Sep 22: WA v SA @ WACA
Sun Sep 23: NSW v Vic @ North Sydney
Tue Sep 25: NSW v TAS @ North Sydney
Wed Sep 26: VIC v WA @ Junction oval
Sun Sep 30: VIC v SA @ Junction oval
Mon Oct 1: NSW v QLD @ Drummoyne Oval

Wed Oct 3: 3 v 6 @ North Sydney
Thurs Oct 4: 4 v 5 @ Drummoyne Oval
Sat Oct 6: Semi Final @ Drummoyne Oval
Sun Oct 7: Semi Final @ Junction oval
Wed Oct 10: Final @ Junction oval

So every state gets a minimum of three games, except Tassie, which gets one. Sounds legit

What a major disappointment.

I feel like Heals in the right environment will be good.

So far, so good but I've watched like 10 minutes

Healy is so f***en shit it's laughable.

Didn't mind Johnson, Julian isn't great but I've become used to it, Waugh is average.
I actually got depressed for a bit when I found out that Healy wasn't boned from TV commentary with 9 gone.

Anyone know if Fox will be sending their commentary team out to cover away Test series ala Sky/BT in the UK?
I would highly doubt it. If they weren't hiring people to do it before why do so now? Its just extra cost.

They have probably only have put the comm teams on contract, not as permanent staff, so its not like they will be on the payroll for nine months doing nothing. Some might be used in other sports, and as off-season cricket reporters (not match day commentators), but mostly they will probably be free to get a gig elsewhere.

He's spot on. It completely fits with modern culture but I think it's a disgrace that kids are made to wear them.
I wore one briefly in under 10s after having some expensive dental work - the shit I copped from other kids was relentless.

I got rid of it, and became f***ing good at hooking and pulling and to this day I've never put one back on. They're dirt.

I don't agree but he has a point. If Phillip Hughes had played a classical back and across hook shot, he'd be in the UAE right now.
I definitely wouldn't be going down that angle. What happened to Hughes was a freak accident that could have happened no matter how he played it

He's not the first person to mention it and it's not without merit. Helmets are making some cricketers think they are bulletproof. Combine that with the T20 mentality of attacking every ball and you have some cricketers ill prepared to face fast bowling.

Don't see it happening in our more cautious society though.

If he'd gone back and across he would have got rattled on the face guard. I see what Kim Hughes is trying to say but I don't think that getting rid of the helmet for juniors is the answer.

I think giving them the option at least should be considered rather than making it compulsory.

There is literally as much chance of a kid in primary aged cricket getting hit on the head or face while fielding as there is when batting.
