I literally said Silk would be spoken about. Can you read?
Sure, I can read. I just don't understand why you're being so vague about it.

He'll 'be spoken about'? What does that mean?

Should he be picked or shouldn't he?

Come on – you came out strong on Lynn. Why are you playing peekaboo when it comes to Silk?

I'm not really sure what you're after here? Do you think Silk should be in over those guys mentioned above?
No. Because his 50-over record doesn't warrant it. Same goes for Lynn.

You, however, have said that T20 form does the trick. If that goes for Lynn, it goes for Silk as well, right?

Mark Waugh openly spoke about Maddinson being spoken about by selectors. Personally I'm not that sure about him, to me he seems like a more stupid version of Maxwell at the moment, but judging from Waugh's comments it seems they're pretty happy to get him in.
Why are you being so coy about it? Should he be picked or not?

Again, he's got some decent T20 form. If that's sufficient to get Lynn in the side, then the same applies to Maddinson, right?

What's this bluster about him 'being spoken about'?

Like I said, pretty hard to pick either of them with our current openers concreted into the side, but should one of them get injured or suspended or whatever, I'd think one of them would be picked in the squad.
Bob each way?

I'd take that as him being on their radar, in contention.
Those terms are equally vague.

Everyone is 'in contention'.

The question I'm asking is: should he be picked?

Should Jordan Silk be picked in the ODI side despite having scored only 443 List A runs at an average of 26 and a strike rate of 69?

oh **** me are you just arguing for the sake of it.......

Ed Cowan would be on the selectors radar for test selection.

For example Finch would not be. despite being in 'contention' under your interpretation.

Not at all.

I'm making the point that, all things being equal, players with ordinary 50-over records are unlikely to be picked in the ODI side.

To that end, I want to know if someone like Jordan Silk should get a run.

If you think he should, then say so.

and you'll get no argument from me there. You asked a question however "He'll 'be spoken about'? What does that mean?" I gave what I perceived that to mean.

When I see that question I think periphery of selection as in, being in contention. With my interpretation of 'contention' being much tighter than yours

Perhaps the ambiguity is deliberate?

The only way Silk is in ODI contention in the near future is if the selectors decide to use the ODI team as a vehicle to give him some international experience before a test debut.

Or if we decide that we should pick the ODI side based on performances in the Big Bash. Apparently that's now a legitimate thing.

Finch is an agricultural hack that needs to be carried early in his innings and only scores on flat wickets.

Watson is a historically world class ODI player
You were saying.

oops awkward:cool:

If our squad is fully fit I think our best 11 is...

Warner
Watson
Smith
Clarke
Maxwell
M.Marsh
Faulkner
Haddin
Johnson
Starc
Hazelwood

Finch and Bailey are horribly out of form, and have ordinary techniques. Getting found out by the better Eng bowlers. Why Voges and S. Marsh aren't in this squad in place of these two is beyond me.
Bump:)
I'm not sold on Finch, I know he's been decent with some big scores but he's so suspect to nicking out against quality outswing
An opener knicking behind to quality outswing. I am shocked:eek: what a calamity.

Humble pie time:cool:

No.

The anti Finch brigade got their just desserts today:thumbsu:
I laugh ever time someone gives an opinion on a player that is not uber positive and you instantly become a hater or anti someone. Finch should have been dismissed on 0, it was a simple catch, good luck to him he cashed in. That doesn't make some of the criticisms of him any less valid. If he makes a duck, I'm not going to get in here and say - Finch lovers cop that.

Right now Australia have a problem in where and how do they fit in Clarke and is he in our best team. His batting has looked scratchy (despite the scores in the warm ups), he's using his hands a lot more because his back is stuffed and he's never been someone to bomb the ball through the leg side in his life.

I would not change the side.

He's a hack

If I stop dissing him he'll probably stop scoring centuries
He must read your work and use it as motivation;)

If you wouldn't mind posting in the shield threads he might actually score a run off the red ball:oops:

Not his fault if a catch is fluffed or a stumping or a runout. He cashed in. Also does that explain his performances in the last year or so? NO!

the anti Finchers wouldn't really be able to call out a 'Finch Lover' at the moment as his record for the last 12-18 months speaks for itself. Our best performed batsmen I would presume at a guess. Scratch that not presuming, he flat out has been...

On the flip side I can with quite some ease call out anyone who is critical of Finch, the anti Finch bunch don't have a leg to stand on atm. You were talking about laughing. I laugh that even as late as Jan-Feb 2015 some still were willing to omit our most productive batsmen from their mock side:oops:

Not uber positive? We've had people calling him an agricultural hack and a terrible cricketer, even when he was scoring runs. People get so hung up on the opinions on players that even when they do peform, they either can't admit they were wrong or they just disappear until the said player fails again.

Bigfooty seems to get the most traffic when guys like Finch do fail.

I'm happy to put my hand up and say I wasn't convinced, because I've seen him bat a lot in red ball games under pressure and it hasn't been flash.

his name is only coming up, because of his form in the recent BBL
