With West Coast likely to finish top, the last thing we want is to finish fourth on the ladder right? - To avoid successive trips to WA.

Answer:
Send a team over to Perth in Round 22 that are not our first 22.

Why not?

Teams rest players all the time to freshen them up.
Why cant we snub the bias AFL draw and shout the younger brigade a match in Perth to round off the season. No law against it is there? We cant forfiet; so it would be the next best thing.

Mind you if we dont crack the eight it wont matter a flying...

The advantage of finishing fourth though is you can not play the Eagles until the GF if you (or them) make it that far. If you finish 2nd or 3rd and lose in the first week you are scheduled to face the Eagles in the Prelim. Therefore, fourth may not be such a bad place

I'd take 4th ahead of 5th, 6th, 7th... you get the picture.

4th is MUCH better than 5th. And as Hotel 6 points out, it has possible advantages over finishing 3rd also.

I would most prefer to finish 2nd or 4th. 3rd would be pretty tough going. Obviously finishing outside the top 4 is the least preferred. With Brisbane making a late charge I wouldn't want to play them at any time in September and they'll probably be outside the top 4.

It all depends on how important it will be to try to win the last game and we probably wont know until then

If its not that important, I think we should send a 'second eleven' to give at least some of the team a rest week and not having to recover from a trip to Perth

If you do end up in 4th spot why don't you just stay for the week?
No jetlag, everyone can rest.

I can hear what you are saying TJ, but we should aim for as high as possible finish - hopefully 2nd!

The only thing I would consider if we are looking well placed by round 22 is reasting any players with niggling injuries to ge them right for the finals.

and boost the WA economy more? No thanks we need the money in SA

I say bring on WCE! bring on Brisbane Lions! The fact is if we can beat these teams in any of the finals we DESERVE the flag. No matter what, only by beating the best teams can we claim that we are the best! It'll just make the road a lot less arduous too.

I was involved with an NBL team that had just set, by far, the best record in league history. The first game of the GF was away, and all the press stuff etc. was a few days earlier. In an inspired move they agreed to stay through. Block book the hotel, get a routine, get used to training in the away stadium, have continuity. Genius.

Ignores the fact that the players went mad they couldn't really leave their hotels, had their entire routine upset, were displaced the entire time - and ultimately P issed it all against the wall as a result.

If we finish fourth, I think we will fly back thanks very much.

Interesting CM, I can only think of the SE Melb Magic in 97/98? 26-4? Lost first final here? Probably a better record than that somewhere along the line....

Triggy has said we'll consider staying over but I think in the end we'll come back home and return to WA (if we have to), which I think is the right move, but in the end, the proof will be in the pudding.

I'd just like to have that choice, you never know what could happen from here on in.

Looked at the draw today and u should really finish second

Dude this is the crows, the team where where what should happen and what actually does happen are usually two different things. IMO the crows will win 4 to 5 of their last eight games. I am expecting them to lose the Kangaroos, Port and WCE games and they are a chance to drop one of their remaining home games. My honest opinion is that they will either have 14 wins or 13 at the end of the minor round and could finish anywhere from 3rd to 6th.

Adelaide would have to win about 6 of its last 8 games to finish second and it would be cruicial that two of the wins include Melbourne and the Kangaroos. I just dont see it happening personally.

I cant be bothered reading anymore. This is the post we all should look at. We play as well as we can and we finish as high as we can and damm the consequences.Gee sounds very Fos Williams

Still a long way to go before finals. Loads could happen, WC might have had a few injuries and lost form and could be a much easier game than if we were to play them this week at Subi.

Don't try and manipulate the system. Just roll with the dice and take it as it comes - if you finish fourth so be it - who knows West Coast might have an off day and lose in the first week!!!

We still have 8 weeks to play and as the old cliche says - take it one week at a time.

I just hope we beat the hawks this week and beat them by a massive margin.

A bit too early thinking about whether to finish 2nd or 4th or what ever. We might even loose all our matches and not be playing finals, who knows.
