correct, we relied on the young blokes for first half of the year and as soon as they burnt out we really lost our way. Agreed, gym and some protein powder for the shiny 19s and they'll get us back up hopefuly sooner rather than later. Throw in a few older heads and a better prepared core, we shouldnt be too far away.

Yeah cool. Now tell your story walking Caulfield.

OLD CAREY vs BEAUMARIS

CAULFIELD GRAM. vs OLD MELBURNIANS

OLD HAILEYBURY vs OLD CAMBERWELL

Is this a misprint Carl. OEG might just have the edge tomorrow, you can not be serious.

Mindgames Merton.....the side, game structure, intensity this week vs next for OEG will be 'hidden' tomorrow......dead rubber, who cares?, the Snowdogs that's who as they try for some type of edge next week.

If OEG win Saturday, there should be no jumping up for joy believe me - a bigger win awaits them next week.

Sounds like you allready conceeded tomorrow??

Decisions decisions decisions!!!!!!!
Do I copy Merc and guarantee the win for the season's tipping contest or do I do my own thing?????

NO!!! I do my own thing!!!! As have done all year.

Beauy, from a confidence booster last week, and better performance over the last month the sharks should overcome Carey, ( cameras at the ready for Collo's hat trick of hangers!! previous two should have won 'almost footy legends' ROBBED!!!) , I've got faith in my boys and thanks to crazy john for the phone from the round against, St, Bern.!!!!

sharkers, win lose or draw, I've got a couple of slabs for the bus ride home!! Get the win and I'll even have then on ice!!

OMelb. Caulf's given up the ghost.

OHail, don't want bad form going into the finals.

MARCELLIN, to be strong going into finals.

OLD ESSENDON, to gain the psychological advantage for next week..

Big shout out to young boy, good luck in your game this weekend!!!!

isn't it a shame when the last round is FULL of dead rubbers. not even 3rd can move to 2nd or a battle for minor premierships. very unlike amatuer football
anyways, at least there's a go in the tipping comp

Had a good day out at the Snakepit today, showers dampened the magoos but it stayed fine for the big game. Dead rubber? Was it 'eck as like, the footy was played at finals intensity for the first half. Essendon defender got sent off in the second quarter for a hit that could be heard around the ground. Tuesday night will be interesting. Second half was a little off the boil however St Bernards didn't switch off and got within four goals a couple of times - but the Bombers responded quickly to squelch any delusions about the Snowdogs winning. Good to see Bigfooty representation at the game, even if the Pineapple didn't seem to recognise the leaner meaner OTP at first!

Gold to Its A Goal, silver to Merc27 and bronze to TBP - a well-timed 5 pointer to clinch the minor medal.

Strong win by OEG yesterday, looking the goods for 2 weeks time. I just have a couple questions for anyone from OEG...
1) What's with the rope?
2) How does one get the distinguised positions of holding the rope?
3) Is it true that it's "The Rope", the same rope that's been used on prelim day the last few years. I saw a few red spots on it but I wasn't sure what they were...

Leaner & meaner tiger is an understatement... looking very fit indeed.

And the shave threw me as well. What's your secret?

Player of the year; hard one but Tony Brown OH, just ahead of Tim Biggs and Cam Mclaren
Young Player of the year; Could take half of St Kevins, Caulfield, Old Carey,Beaumaris here- will go Stephen Fremantle Old Carey
Coach of the year: this is harder than you would think with OE and possibly St Bernards doing as expected, though both coaches would be worthy winners. Old Carey coach (despite handles vendetta) would be deserving after they were widely tipped to finish bottom. I will take Murray Browne(Marcellin) for forging a good if not great bunch of players into a very good team.
Disappointment of the year: Caulfield who were talked up big time in preseason

Tips next year

Beaumaris to jump straight back up
Camberwell or OMs to drop with Ajax/Ormond/oakleigh
Hampton to surprise everyone
St Kevs and Old Carey to play finals

Ah yes, the rope. Certain St Bernards individuals in varying degrees of agitation were seen canvassing the VAFA types and demanding answers.

I thought it all quite amusing... :)

Razor blades.
I thought it was pretty ordinary . People come to our level of footy so they can go out at the breaks and listen to the coaches . Who does the OEG coach think he is , Mick Malthouse ? Typical OEG allways trying to rock the boat .

2008 Finals- A punters guide
OEG odds into $1.10, will be unbackable if they defeat StB in the second semi. av pts for 117.5 av pts ag 69.2
V StB (w) 56 pts WH (w) 44pts Pit v Marc (w) 9 pts Marc (w) 59 pts Ess
v OH (w) 24 pts Bad (l) 1 pt Ess
Consistent best:Forrest,T Biggs,D. Biggs,Clifton,Cooper, Skurrie
13 goalkickers have more than 10 for the year with Skurrie on 62 and Condos on 47
Exceptional depth throughout their list gives all opposition coaches ulcers.
Will be even stronger with the inclusion of a fit Condos! I know Ajax was beaten at 1/40 in a Rawson Stakes, will be just as big a surprise if OEG fail this year

St B odds out to $3.75 Av pts for 104.5 Av pts ag 84
v OEG (l) 56pt WH (l) 44 pt Pit v Marc (w) 57 pts at both pit and Marc vOH (w) 4pt Bad (w) 33 Pit
Consistent best:Cavan,Jolley,O'Sullivan,Overman,Liberatore
6 goalkickers have more than 10, with Potter and Pearson on 52 and Mitchell on 31
Again good depth throughout list, worry is worst backline in the 4, been flogged both times by OEG including last Sat, will be hard to imagine them beating OEG Sat week
Marc odds into $9 Av pts for 88.8 Av pts ag 69.9
v OEG (l) 9 pt Mar (l) 59 pts Ess v StB (l) 57 pts at Pit,Marc v OH (w) 75 pts Mar (w) 46 pt Bad
Consistent best: J Carlson,Bortolotto, Maclaren,Considine, T Carlson.Other players to watch are Fraser and Romanin
8 goalkickers have more than 10 with Maclaren on 64 and Romanin on 32, Bortolotto and Marson have also posted more than 20
Reasonable depth throughout list, running into peak form at right end of season, should account for OH and if they can sneak past snowies showed enough early in the season with the 9 pt loss to OEG that they have the game to take it up to the favourite.
OH odds $34 and thats probably unders Av pts for 92.9 Av pts ag 78.8
v OEG (l) 24pts Bad (w) 1 pt OE v StB (l) 4 pts Bad (l)33 pts Pit v Marc (l) 75 pts Marc (l) 46 pts Bad
Consistent best: ABrown,Voss,Mohammed Mclauchlin,Morrison. others to watch Roberts, Brewer,Loewe and Langford-Jones
11 goalkickers > 10,but worry is topscorer Magee only has 33
Best 22 are on the ground, injury to Tony Brown a major concern. Looked ordinary on Sat especially in the the third qtr when an inexperienced and depleted OC easily kicked 6 goals against them at the non scoring end. Whoever said age shall not weary them hasn't seen OH. Don't think they'll trouble the top 3

Nice Post Arch!

Player of the year; Brown my tip as well.

Young Player of the year; Will agree with the dashing number 3 from the Panthers.

Coach of the year: I am staring to be a copy cat (or monkey) here. Thought Browne has done a huge job. Gone 4 weeks ago. Have seen them a few times and have looked very average. To finish with there W/L ratio has been amazing.

Disappointment of the year: Skevs. Just a disappointing club full stop (Apart from glory years of dominating A when Brian was on board a decade back) Caulfield are just a bunch of kids. Can't play footy, but still just kids.

Tips next year

Caulfield to jump straight back up (Under 19's are very good!)
Camberwell or OMs to drop with Ajax/Ormond/oakleigh - OK!
Hampton to surprise everyone - Wont suprise Jase
St Kevs and Old Carey to play finals - Why not.

The only Caulfield U19's who are any good have already played seniors and it did not help. In fact some managed to play in the U19's on the same day so they are very good.Quiet tip- OM's will make the finals

Do you think the two sides that go into A section next season will be competitive and if not where should their improvement lay ?

Do you think the two sides that go into A section next season will be competitive and if not where should their improvement lay ?

Would probably need to recruit Matthews from OC as coach to stiffen up defensive game plan. Both capable of leaking goals against the might of teams like Collegians and Old Xavs.

Do you think the two sides that go into A section next season will be competitive and if not where should their improvement lay ?
No matter which 2 are promoted, and at the moment I prefer OEG and Marcellin, but the same applies to the snowies should they keep most of their lists intact they will be more than competitive next year in A section. Problems won't surface for 2 or 3 years, Marcellin have very good U/19s playing Premier whereas both OEG and StB u/19s are both struggling.
A bit like the OH situation at the moment, where their future is clouded, aging seniors, ordinary seconds and very ordinary u/19s, they will probably struggle to remain in B section for 2010 without a huge recruiting drive
