Re: Back to Back Minor Premirship?

Lock it in. Hopefully we keep the % over 180, would be a mighty effort.

Well done boys!

Good effort by the boys, but we've got bigger fish to fry. 180% is pretty unlikely IMO we'd need to beat the Cats by at least 8-10 goals.

Would take a huge effort to stay above 180!

On the Minor premiership, we can't really lose it.

Ladder predictor has 100point Cat win against both Sydney and us with us still taking out the minor premiership. So :D

Re: Back to Back Minor Premirship?

For Geelong to take minor premiership, they would need to win by 14 goals tomorrow against Swans (possible), then beat us by 18 goals. Don't see that happening imo.

1st back-2-back minor premiers since 1969-1970. :) :thumbsu:

Yeah you are probably right, I can see it being a high scoring game which would go against us.

Still, it's a nice round figure to achieve, I've got a thing with numbers sometimes. ;)

All eyes on the big prize of course.

Re: Back to Back Minor Premirship?

Doesnt matter too much, nice to get though. Only way it woulda helped if we beaten geelong (should of) and went in with no loses.. then other teams are really intimidated

We Got Screwed in that Game:mad:

Great achievement but Woop de Doo.
It means crap.
Just ask Port Adelaide.
We"ve got to get back to playing 4 qtrs of intense Collingwood pressure before we start thinking our sh#t doesnt stink, because if we serve up the crap we have served up in our two last quarters we will get a big shock.

theres a legend that says after essendon lost the 99 prelim the team had gathered together in the days afterwards, the room was hushed when the club pres walked in with the mclellan trophy, slammed it on a table in the room, said "theres ya ****en trophy" and stormed out.

that club also had Matthew Knights as a coach - muhahahahahahaha

Jeeze rusty look back to last year same time mate - the finals are around the corner and its all about staying injury free and preparing for the big dance m8. Chill out we are in far better nick than same time last year. :D

Not really - If we could hold Geelong to a pretty low score, and win, say, 90-60, we'd finish with a percentage of over 180.

Doing the calculations, if Geelong beat Sydney 150-50 today, and then beat us 150-50 next week, they'd still finish behind us.

Re: Back to Back Minor Premirship?

Means nothing to me unless we win the big one.
Nice one.

The rest of us celebrating the achievement are all fine with us not winning the flag, because obviously, you have to choose which one you can be proud of - You can't enjoy two things seperately

Looked at in isolation the minor premiership is just that - minor. However looked at in context it is enlightening.

Consider that this year we are the hunted, we have had very significant outs for significant weeks and are still cruising into the finals in better shape statistically than we were last year.

Remember at the start of the year how everyone said we would struggle without Jolly? We lost him but kept winning, we even had Swan and Pendles out for the first game against the Dees and young Wellers stepped up and creamed them. Fasolo has made his entrance to much mouth watering by many of us here and at the other end of the scale Leon has stunned us all with his rebirth as a silky smooth running half back.

In short we have had an injury affected season, had to blood some new players, played significantly below our best for large chunks of the season and STILL are sitting on top of the ladder with a monster percentage with premiership players still to to come into the team. To win the minor premiership in those circs is a noteworthy achievement that justifies some pride.

well said jonbe, but another thing to consider is that last year we went into the finals confident, hopeful, and yes a little scared after previous failed campaigns. this year we go in full of expectation, where anything short of the ultimate prize is totally unacceptable. hence the attitude towards the top spot - yes its nice - yes its been great over the 21 games so far - but only one game is going to really matter. otherwise we'll all be buying a shitful winning streak video

Totally agree VJ - '70 haunts me still and I will never forget :(

Top spot is wrapped up. Cats need to have an overall winning margin over 300 points from the next 2 games to get ahead, so it won't happen.

It means we can prepare and focus on the finals as early as this week, and treat round 24 however we want it which is ideal.

Congrats to the team!
