Johnson's been most impressive 3 games in a row (even with the bag Fev kicked). Still don't think Scham really belongs there and he'll probably make way once Haddrill and/or Thornton are back in. I'd still rather see him running on the wing.

Duffield might take Schammers position in the backline. Duff can take a mark and won't be outbodied so easily.

Will be very interesting at the selection table this week. I think we'll see more changes. Don't know if Schammer will be the one dropped though.

I'm guessing only 1 change. Duffield in. out ??

Johnson
+ Great rebound, plenty of run.
- still not strong enough to play as a FB
Mundy
+ great rebound, strong mark going forward.
- beaten in a couple, one on one, marking contests
Grover
+ Fantastic Again
- Seem to tire towards the end
Hayden
+ Best player in the backline
- I couldn't fault his performance
Schammer
+ Great rebound, plenty of run, only made one mistake kicking in.
- Beaten in a couple, one on one, marking contests, lacked size.

They made our whole team look fantastic. The midfield doesn't look so bad when these guys provide options out of defence.

In the last quarter when it looked like Port were getting a run on I saw Pav take a mark in the backline. Jobs by Polak, Dodd, Crowley and Carr were all well done. Superb coaching by CC.

With more experience Johnson is going to be a gun full back, if Haddrill can overcome his injury worries Connolly's wish of moving him to CHB will come to fruition.
Id prefer to see Schammer in the guts now and play Duffield down back if Haines is out for a while, Schammer's build looks like its ready for the grunt work now, doesnt get pushed off the ball so easily.

One Melee Dodd was our best player by far by reducing Chaaaaaad Cornes tono more than abystander. Is becoming one of the Afl's best taggers.

Chaddy spit the dummy big time a couple of times. :thumbsu: That furrow in his ugly brow was threatening to become a canyon... :D

Didn't see a lot of his brother either...

Nothing short of awesome the guys down back today.

Johnson
Mundy
Grover
Hayden
Schammer

Well done!

Old Man Parksy...

Week in, week out he does his job - and goes unnoticed. Just the way he'd probably want it too. ;)

Seeing Hayden working off the back line was made me realise what we have been missing since 2004. The guy has so much balance it should be a crime. Last week's game against the blues he seemed a bit lost I thought. This week the real Roger Hayden was back on deck. He should have been in my best for this week. With he and Johnno selling dummies and doing side steps we have some real flair down back now.

Nice one Roger.:thumbsu:

He's deceptively quick too. I'd like to see him up against Judd. He reacts quicker than everyone else, and then it's those first three paces and he's clear.

One of the things with the no-names in 2003 was that with Parker, Grover, Hayden, Woods, Hadrill, Polak and later McPharlin, it was bloody difficult to get a contested mark. But when it hit the deck we lacked body size and experience.

We're not as quite good in the air but with Hayden, Grover, and now Mundy and Johnson, supporting Parker we seem stronger and more organised when it hits the deck. Hayden makes a big difference when it hits the deck.
